Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has poured cold water on reports linking James Beattie with a move away from Bramall Lane.
While it has largely been a season of disappointment for the Blades, on a personal level Beattie has stolen the plaudits.
Beattie swapped Merseyside for Yorkshire in the summer in dropping down to the Championship from Everton; in a move that was somewhat surprising given his Premier League pedigree.
He has shown plenty of top flight nous this term in bagging 20 goals and his form has not gone unnoticed further up the football pyramid.
In recent weeks Sunderland have been mooted as possible candidates to test United's resolve in the summer, but Blackwell insists the player will fulfill his contractual obligations.
"James is tied into a four year contract here and at the moment I am delighted he is banging in the goals from Sheffield United," he told the club's offical website.
"He has worked hard to overcome the injury that he got over Christmas and, as far as interest in him goes, we can decide who and when anybody speaks to him. However, there is nothing to say he is leaving at the end of the season."
Blackwell's stance has been echoed by the player himself, who insists he is more than content at his current employers.
"I am happy here and want to get this club into the Premier League."
