See the Beast, Jon Parkin has been released by Cardiff.

He could be our new Christian Nade but one who scores goals. Definitely worth a punt, doubt he'd cost much in wages either. Oh, and he's a nice guy, I played with him as a junior.

Soz - posted in wrong place.

Can't we get you instead?

When you say Nade, you mean fat and shit and can only run around for 30 minutes. Oh and can't stay out of McDonalds. I'll come and do that for you if you want.

Tis the season for random names. Heres one. Alan Lee.

Exactly the sort of signing we don't need, we've already got two big cloggers in Porter and Cresswell, we don't need another one!

Jon Parkin, Alan Lee, jeez I know we're in the pub league but please, what on earth would these two juggernauts bring to the table? Parkin never had a best, and he's past what he was so no thank-you. Lee is a horrible player, a real scumbag, and not one who'd ever fit into what I'd call "Bladesness". We've had some right nasty fuckers over the years but Lee isn't nasty, he's snidy, he's a cheat, he's a full weight wanker so please God, please don't let's ever see these two wearing the red and white stripes.

JL 94x4. Your point is he scored a goal once. Thats your point isn't it?

Whats Dele Adebola up to these days ?

Gret idea, let's av another striker on our books who averages Less than 10 a season. Jeeeez

Instead of going for fat never have beens, how about we look for someone young, hungry and that scores for fun in the lower leagues?

Matt green from Mansfield?

Any player coming in has to be better than what we have and a tactical fit for what we want to do. I know its stating the obvious but you would be surprised how many of our recent managers have overlooked that basic fact.

If we only have the resources to go for up and coming lower league talent then thats where we are. Better that than another thread about Michael Brown coming back.

If he'd been a few years younger,I'd have said Steve Foster at Chorley - run by ex-Blade Gary Flitcroft.

He's consistently been one of the top scorers in the Northern Prem in the last couple of seasons (29 in 54 games is a decent return),and not afraid to get stuck in.

He was also Evo-Stik Player of the year this year.

A 31 year old playing in Division 7 ? Sign him up!!!

According to Wikipedia - Nade, at 27 and therfor in him pomp, is currently playing in the Thaiwanese Premier Leagues for Samut Songkhram F.C. after a brief spell in the Cypriot league.

Despite this, he remains one of my favourite EVER players.

Charge around like a lunatic for 5 minutes, assault anything that moves and then run out of breath. Legendery.

8 Men, 7 Men, 6 Men ...... 1 Man and his forklift truck couldna Nade....

This song is quality and should be sung (with scottish accent) by us about fatty Parkin if we sign him.

We'd be better off with an industrial sized barrel of swarfega up front.

I am still chuckling at this comment.

FFS big John Parkin

Another legendary striker doing nowt is Billy Tightshirt (Whitehurst) lives near me mate - I'll give him a call...

Gone to Fleetwood, according to the Mail.

I've probably not been keeping up to speed on the lower leagues (other than this season through necessity) but when did all these shitty little non-league clubs like Burton, Stevenage, Crawley and Fleetwood get into the league?

We really have to get promoted ASAP. We need to be playing against bigger, better teams.

Burton are just like Macclesfield a few seasons back; Stevenage could be the modern day Wimbledon. Crawley and Fleetwood are showing what having a bit of money in the lower leagues can do.

They have just as much right to be in the football league as anybody else. Good luck to them (unless they're playing us).

More power to them but how FPP will affect them I don't know

Don't think it will, really. Not many of those teams bring through huge numbers of young players - they're more reliant on sides like us releasing 18 and 19 year olds: Kingsley James and Phil Roe at Port Vale are good examples.

And buying overpaid carthorses like Jon Parkin?
