My only fear would be that people would turn on Wilder if things weren't going well. Otherwise, I want Sheffield United to win every game left this season and that would make promotion unavoidable.

I don't think so.
If we ever get there and the boardroom is arguing the toss about the cost to sign Charlton Athletics top scorer and declaring that his agent is a cunt, we'll know exactly who to blame

If both Sheffield clubs go up this season we could have an open top bus parade with BOTH teams sharing the same bus! How about that for a cracking idea?

I think it’s brilliant, even though I thought of it myself.

Of course it would work best if United are on the top deck and Wednesday are on the bottom deck with blacked out windows. ;)

The promotion season would be the best bit.

The PL would seem interesting for about 6 months then that would be it, we'd get bored of it and turn into 'Premier League fans'.

It's what happens.

I’d be happy with promotion as long as though the snort beasts get relegated. Haha.
It’s happened before so please lord:
MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!. UTB FTP.

Whilst being in the Premier league would be great (at least for a bit), I would hope that us as fans could stay a bit grounded and not turn into the entitled tossers who "follow" a lot of PL teams. I do have high hopes of this as during our 6 year "exile" in L1, I don't think we got any sort of reputation for "largeing it" from fans of Peterborough, Oldham, Stevenage etc.(possibly because the team didn't exactly "large it" either until Tufty appeared!). There's nowt worse than fans of some get lucky middling PL team (Leicester, Hull-haha, West Scam etc) taking some entitled haughty attitude and somehow forgetting where they've been and come from. I'd like to think we're better than that (unless it's laughing at Wendy of course!). I don't like the PL circus, but if you don't try it you'll never know. BUT - if we go up, I won't be going to BDTBL to watch Mane, De Bruyne, Kane et al. They're the enemy. I'll be going with the sole purpose of watching the Blades. Any other reason is treachery!!!

Nah, I could see Fleck chinning Bannan.

Living in the Midlands I know a lot of Baggies, and they are absolutely loving this season.

Unless you are one of the top 6 or 7, the Prem is generally a stressful, relegation- threatened experience if staying up is all you care about. However, if managed carefully it can turn you into a financially powerful Championship player.

The ideal seems to be to get yourself promoted, be sensible and enjoy 1 or 2 seasons playing teams who are in Champions League, accept you’ll slip down again and enjoy a couple of winning seasons in the Champ before getting promoted and repeating the process.

The big mistake if you go up is to employ a Pulis and take a don’t-lose attitude to every game. This is good for the owners but becomes mind-numbing for the fans. I know people from Stoke as well as West Brom who would have welcomed a go-for-it style and relegation over the backs-to-the-wall survive at all costs football that they suffered.

So get up there, keep the purse under control, keep playing attractive, attacking football avd enjoy whatever that brings.

Magic Doesn’t Happen in Straight Lines

Wouldn't much enjoy getting spanked most weeks, winning about 7 games a season and having a 10th place finish as our loftiest ambition. The novelty would soon wear off.

I want to see United play in Europe one day and I would trade 0 more seasons in the PL for the rest of my life for one European campaign.

Knowing United luck we would get a Europa League qualifying glamour tie against Motherwell or TNS Think I'd rather be back in the PL.

If done right, (which most people accept is not to blow your wad each season and then get into debt) and if Wilder, Knill and Mitchell who will be even more important when we are looking for premiership players, prove themselves I can see United being able to compete in the top half in about 5 years. Now I know there are 3 variables in there including getting promoted in the first place but I believe in these guys, now we need to sort out the ownership wrangle.

Or would you prefer they didn’t?

“Not ready yet”

“Need another season to consolidate”

“We’d get beat every week”

“Wouldn’t be able to get tickets”

“Prices would go up”

“Premiership is not as exciting as Championship”

What’s your take on it?
I want my team to win every game we play.....the consequences of realising such an aspiration would make us the most successful team in the history of the game it’s what wilder wants,it’s what every football player Wants.Does anyone on here really want to lose or draw?
Would we eventually get bored of winning?
Premiership,bring it on.

For be biggest reason for going up is to stick right up the piggies noses , they’re be so pissed off the team from the pub league went up before the massively deluded greatest team in the world.
Bring it on can’t wait!

It’s an odd conversation but one I’ve had a lot. Most people I know, even some who support top Premier league clubs, think the championship is more exciting to watch because the teams are much more evenly matched so on one level staying in it would probably be better entertainment. That said don’t we all want a successful team? If so we’ve got to want them to be promoted at some stage even if it means losing more than we win when they’re there.

I think there’s a huge difference between getting promoted and becoming a stale, clinging onto the money and status club, like West Brom, Stoke etc had become.

I like Bournemouth’s approach, play attacking football and go for it. They’ll go down at some point and the way to deal with that is to accept it and have a plan for it, not to panic and throw money at mercenary players and dull-football managers in the hope of staying up and playing increasing boring, defensive football.

If we do that, stick to our principles of not over-paying players (which means you can’t move them on if you get relegated), we’ll have a great time.

I don’t think anyone doesn’t really want us to get promoted but I think plenty don’t want us to be a West Brom/Stoke. I tend to agree with them.

I always enjoy pointing out to them that although we may be a small and insignificant club in comparison to their magnificence we have at least played in the Premier League this century.

One of them tried to argue saying that they went down in 2000. It had to be pointed out to him that a century means 100 and you don't get to 100 when you are at 99. Likewise you do not start counting the next century at 0.

Still not sure if he got it. :D

You'd be a fool to turn it down. The championship is way too unpredictable to consider a second season of consolidation. We're punching above our weight financially as it is.
