As a younger fan I’ve some questions about the South Stand. When did it start full being used as the location of the dug out? Were the changing rooms always being used there from when it was built and the subs/managerial team just walking over to the John Street stand for the game? Why didn’t they just put the dugout on the South Stand from when it was opened?

South Stand dugout started during the 1981-82 season.

Interesting! Why wasn’t it in situ from the off? Did we run out of money?

Also, the language used in that piece reads like AI. Very peculiar. Maybe the likes of Anthropic used Sheffield United programmes from the early 1980s to train its language models?

I don't think that we could afford to finish the infrastructure underneath the stand after it was built. The players lounge being pretty small from what I remember. Interesting that we tracked Colin Morris for about 12 months prior to him signing, so unless he was out injured for a while, can our recruitment team beat that?

Yes we did run out of money. Hence the sales of Currie and others and the decline from being a 1st Division club. Eventually to join the pigs in the third division.

They couldn’t afford the train fare up to Blackpool and back on a regular basis. Had to be once a quarter, bar the Summer.

Dont remember if it was in the architect's or the board's thinking that the South Stand would have the changing rooms once it was completed or in a few years time, think it was Reg Brealey's idea that we have changing rooms in the South Stand. Sadly, it was his decision to demolish the pavilion.
