Just watched it this is at 30 minutes 10 seconds. Notice how they dont mention the goal celebration hugging in any of the matches that were shown on the BBC !
Also they gloss over the fact everyone is regularly tested and say its Ministers who are saying footballers are setting a bad example.

Yes I regularly hug my neighbours and shoppers when out and about.

Then they roll on Rochdale (yes Rochdale!) Team Doctor saying football should be stopped as its setting a bad example.

She’s not wrong if there is a legitimate interest in preventing the spread within the game. Then questions need to be asked focusing on how covid is entering so many clubs facilities and then how it is spreading within these facilities. Once that has been ascertained new protocols need to be drawn up to address this and if that’s not possible then other options need to be considered. If a player had covid, passing it on whilst celebrating would be irrelevant given the fact they’ve spent x minutes in close contact during the game itself (tackling, corners etc). It seems a weird thing to focus on given that players are in each other’s faces every 5 seconds anyway.

They're focusing on it because the FA and Premier League put out a directive this week saying telling clubs not to do ot and we broke it in the first PL game.

Football is under a lot of scrutiny at the moment. Especially given the amount of players who flouted COVID guidance over the festive period and people outside grounds last weekend.
