no I just know we will and that with a new manger and teams fighting for play off places, it's actually quite likely we will and to be honest most people have gone for use getting 84 points

We can't get 84 points. We can only get 85 (if we win all our games) or 83(if we win 4 and draw 1)

That predictor knows nowt. When I've used it before it DEFINITELY had us staying in the Prem, DEFINITELY had us staying in the Championship, DEFINITELY us getting promoted last season, and for what it's worth 3rd this season. Hope it's wrong again!

I can't believe hat anyone had us staying up in the Championship. We looked nailed on from January onwards...

That's how the football god's are going to get us then is it? The league take pity on us and give us one more game than everybody else and we still fuck it up? :)

I might be clutching at straws but this is a reasonable scenario;

Donny are definately the team that we can overhaul. But the sting in the tail, (excuse the pun!) could come from Brentford or even Yeovil...

I can't see Bournemouth dropping points in their last two games but Donny struggle at home and play Notts County then have to travel to Brentford on the last day. If we can win our two in hand, (Brentford & Crewe) that will put us on 79 compared to Donnys current 81 with a better GD.

If Donny draw v Notts that puts them on 82. I think we will draw v Pompey so that would put us on 80, (presuming we go on to beat Crewe) going into the last day.

Brentford, having lost to us would be on 77, presuming they win away at Hartlepool, (easier said than done) that would put them on 80, level with us going into the last day. Yeovil have beaten Oldham and Crewe and are also on 80 but as we manage to maintain a slightly better goal average we sit third behind Donny and Bournemouth, both on 82.

A packed BDTBL watches Morgans Marvels do what they have to and beat Preston. We finish on 83 points. Bournemouth win and finish on 85. Brentford beat Donny and finish on 83, leaving Donny on 82. Yeovil win on the last day v Bury so second spot is decided by GD.....!

Of course we all know this will pan out except that it's nailed on Preston will win at the Lane to make the football gods laugh their socks off at us yet again.

Just done it and this is my top 3 going in to the final set of games:

1 - Bournemouth (82 pts, gd 22)
2 - Blades (82 pts, gd 21)
3 - Doncaster (82 pts, gd 18)

No way it will happen mind...

Very true. Tough game at Oldham who are fighting for their life but you would fancy 6 points against Bury and then Crewe at home. Minimum that will leave them is 80 but certainly not out of it

It's father vs son at Boundary Park tonight, I expect Oldham to win.

One things for sure goals are going to be very important, even if it's sorting out which leg we play at home in the play-offs. Morgs has got to make sure the defence stays as tight as possible and if we score we can't sit back and defend a 1-0 lead, all-out attack-attack is the only way we stand a chance..

If Oldham win tonight, it will be good for us as it will take points of Yeovil. But, it will also mean that Hartlepool will be relegated, and they will then play Brentford on Saturday with nothing but pride to play for. Of course, Portsmouth will also be relegated and who do they play on Saturday...?

A 3-0 win tonight, (I know, don't get carried away!) puts us 4th, 3 points behind Bournemouth with the Crewe game in hand and level GD. Win at Crewe and we go above them, (Saturdays results dependent) then it's ours to lose going into the last day.....sounds simple...!!

Tranmere are at PNE on Saturday. We need them to get something so that they have a chance of a play off spot on the final day, meaning they will have something to play for v Bournemouth.

Porstmouth are already effectively down as, if they don't get relegated on the pitch, the League will deduct the 10 points for their going into admin. If they do get relegated on the pitch, the 10 point deduction will be held over to next season.

So it's worth them trying as hard as they can to get out of the relegation zone then - as relegation is inevitable they may as well try and start next season on 0 points rather than -10. That said, there's only Oldham they can catch and that's only going to be possible if Oldham lose all their remaining 4 games given the relative goal differences.

Pompey's form has turned round quite impressively following that 22 game winless streak; they've won 4, drawn three and lost two of the last nine games. We should win there but it'll be a close game - they've not lost at home since February 2nd.

I think the Pompey game will be the toughest of the last 4 and could well be the one that ultimately leaves us in the play-offs

I think Swindon need to be held back tonight so Tranmere have something to play for against bournemouth at home on the last day.

Consider this.

Saturday 20th April

Doncaster 2-1 Notts County
Hartlepool 0-1 Brentford

Saturday 27th April

Brentford 2-1 Doncaster

That leaves Doncaster and Brentford equal on points, GF, GA and head to head.

Hate doing the predictor but just a high level glance and I can see Brentford snatching promotion with Doncaster in 2nd spot and us missing out. However, anything can happen and with Brentford away at already relegated Hartlepool this weekend and Doncaster at home to a seemingly easy Notts County it could flip ! I don't fancy our chances though. Portsmouth nothing to play for but doesn't mean a thing.

Think Bournemouth will beat Carlisle but think they'll slip up against Tranmere. Think Donny will do a job over Brentford as well. I'm confident we can get maximum points in our last few games.
Think it will finish like this.

I think it will be one of two scenarios;

Donny will beat Notts and lose to Brentford. Brentford will draw at Hartlepool. Bournemouth will win their last 2. This will mean;

Bournemouth 85 points
Donny 84 points
Brentford 82 points

or.......

Donny will draw v Notts and lose away to Brentford. Brentford will draw at Hartlepool. Bournemouth will win their last 2.

Bournemouth 85 points
Brentford 82 points
Donny 82 points

If we win our last 3 then we nick second place in scenario 2. We need at least 2 and preferably all 3 of the current top 3 to drop points.

IMO it will be irelevent as I can't see us beating Pompey

We still can go up automatically with 79 points!

Been using the BBC predictor to see how many points would make Wendy mathematically safe from relegation (I gave Hudders a win at Barnsley). It is 60 points with Ipswich going down with 59 points (I had Wendy beating them this Sat but if I had to change it to a draw then Wendy will go down with 58 points!)

someone will go down with a high points total!

It isn`t unfaesible for everyone apart from donny to win their games (donny draw) and leave the table like this going into the last day:

Bourmemouth 82
Doncaster 82
Brentford 81
Blades 80

Which would leave Bournemouth needing a win to be sure, and a draw potentially good enough if we dont win and overhaul the GD.

Doncaster would need a win to be sure, and a draw potentially good enough if we dont win and overhaul the GD or Bourenmouth Lose. Any sort of loss leaves them in the PO

Brentford would need a win, a draw would probably leave them in the PO, as Bournemouths GD is better.

We need to win and hope that:
  • Bournemouth Lose (we are a point ahead of B'mouth, and both Donny and Brentford cant overtake us); OR
  • Bournemouth draw and we overhaul GD (we are a ahead of B'mouth on GD, and both Donny and Brentford can't overtake us); OR
  • Donny v Brentford draw (we would have a better GD than Donny, be a point ahead of B'ford, doesn`t matter what B'mouth do)
Strangely, despite being 4th with three teams above us, we would only need a single result t go our way.

Its an absolute nightmare to keep track of in that case due to the GD being so close. A heavy win for any side this weekend could have serious consequences come the end of the season...

God i wish i was going to Pompey this weekend. Just to much work to do though.....

Well new predictions say Bmouth, Brentford, Donny, Blades, Yeovil and Swindon. Which I think would be a good finish for us based on recent events. Would fancy us against Yeovil and then either Donny or Swindon in the final would be a game we have a chance of winning. Hard way yet again
