Inevitable that this thread was gonna happen so I have got in nice and early.

The absolute pillock got himself a straight red for what sounds like a pointless, dangerous tackle and again proves what a liability he actually is. So are you an admirer of baxter or not?

I personally think he is inconsistent. He's scored a few goals but again he is one of these who will have a game or two and then disappear for half a dozen games which can make a hell of a difference when you are hunting promotion. Therefore I would like us to bring in another central midfielder regardless and see Baxter earn his shirt, if he can't earn it then oh well.

I'm not forming this decision on his red card tonight but as an overall, I just think he has had as many negatives as positives during his time at the club. Of course I would love for him to prove me wrong because when he is on song he is brilliant but at the minute he definitely has a lot to prove.

This could be a great opportunity for someone like young Reedy as well now.

I was Baxter's biggest fan, but no, Wallace and Basham now for me.

Think he's a class player. Just well pissed at him getting himself banned for 3 games (in what was a nothing game, after all).

But don't see the need to overreact right now & judge him worthy of being stoned to death. It's what we do though, I suppose.

Time to give James Wallace a run of games in Baxters place.

I've mentioned this before, but Baxters time at the Lane seems to be punctuated by him consistantly making fucking stupid mistakes. I've also noticed that under the various managers he has played under, he has almost seemed to be undroppable. Maybe it is time to drop him, just for the reason that it is time we dropped him for doing something stupid and let him earn his place back in the side.

On his day he is technically the best player we have, and has the ability to control a game with his passing. Problem is that those days tend to come & go.

There clearly are some 'issues' with his judgement as well.

I voted 'unsure' but if we can get a couple more midfielders in I would quite happily see him shipped out.

It isn't just overreacting over a red card though is it Alfreton? He does stupid things time and time again and when we think he has turned a corner and starts playing football, he then drifts off again and his football becomes substandard. We need consistent players in the middle of the park!

I would love to have a consistently good Baxter because he has had a few very decent games for us but this is why he is league one and nobody comes knocking on the door for him because these great performances are few and far between and we then have to endure half a dozen games where he isn't up with the pace.

He's usually good for one stupid challenge a season. If there's any good out of it, it may force Adkins to play with a real midfield sooner rather than later

How many chances do we give him before we say enough's enough?

I love him, been brilliant lately as I've said previous. But he's let the club down here.

Wallaces shirt to lose.

He was probably coming down a bit too fast into the tackle...

Sounds like a dickhead challenge on the radio when the game was already lost. Let him work his nuts off to get back in, not banish him to the phantom zone like Clough did with Brandy.

He's too much of a liability. For everything good he does he has to do something stupid to restore the balance. Sorry but after this I hope his days as a Sheffield United player are numbered to less than 6

I've not been tonight but FB Junior who was there says it was a totally idiotic hack in the 89th minute when we were 2-0 down - Baxter appears brainless - How many chances does he get ?

Very harsh, Green, if you ask me (though I fully realise Baxter's got his very many critics). Just such a shame from my POV now that he seems to have been given that quarterback role in front of the back four as his own for him to develop in. Unsettled side again.

Presumably one of the games he'll miss will just be the Hartlepool one?

As annoying an underperforming as he can be, if we are serious about getting promoted we need him. He is a class above most at this level. I would love Reed to come in and shine, but im not convinced he can yet. For me, despite the crap you get from Jose, the good outways the bad.

He's a total bloodclaart. Hope he never plays for us again.
Mate texed me saying it was one of those tackle s where you just hope the bloke gets up. Another night it could have ended his career.

Tactical by Baxter to make sure he was t sent out on loan before the transfer window closes

Apparently after the final whistle, Baxter kicked Ross McCormack in the bollocks and told Kit Symons he fucked his missus just to make sure we'd lost. The silly chunky twat.

He is a really frustrating player. As someone has mentioned already, every manager seems to pick him in their first 11, he's obviously got a lot of talent and is a very good player for this division. His problem is proving that on a consistent basis but then he goes and has the odd mad moment. He's capable of banging a goal in from anywhere so it would be a stupid decision to drop him from the match day squad.

He does while our current squad looks like it does however it's an area we should be looking to improve on

If I had my way he wouldn't have been on the park to do anything stupid in the first place. Why Adkins is bringing on Baxter (and worse, Adams) in a game he's decided is meaningless is baffling.
