What a load of rubbish.

In his early career Beckenbauer was famous for having loads of allround ability and being a central defender that often made forward runs into the box.

His runs wouldn't be picked up so he had the knack of being infree space to score plenty of goals.

Basically a goal scoring defender.

I suppose they are referring to his runs out of defense into midfield, which I admit he's excels at, but not a patch on Harry Maguire runs out of defense with the ball.

It wasn't a geniuine comparison, more of a humourus aside. The people around me seemed to think it was slightly funny - although I admit I sit in the South Stand so wit isn't generally at a premium - so your reaction seems a bit over the top. It's catching on near us anyway so best get ready .... :)
 
I did think of Kaiser Chris but what with the political sandy vaginas on here I though best not at the time.

Uruguayan international born in Paisley played for Barcelona, 1963.

Agreed .

Comparing the two is ludicrous in the extreme . Basham's miles better .
 



I've been calling him Bashinho since he skinned that kid against Walsall last season
 
Basham reads the game very quickly whether in midfield or defence. In midfield we tends to be too slow after getting the ball, so that position isn't for me any more. In defence it's all in front of him and recently it seems that CW has told him to win the ball and then distribute to midfield and not go gallivanting up field so much.

He could, replace Wright as the centre of a three perhaps next season if we get a real good strong right sided player.

If Wright isn't fancied next season, we can't afford to make a bucket load of changes and keeping Bash and JOC plus 1 other may give us a decent back 3.

Even though I was there, and thought he had a good game, and was suprised to see him subbed.
I keep getting told he was shit???

Must be missing summat....
