He's certainly not Doyle's replacement. Two very different players to me.

To be fair, the whole team was poor and inconsistent early season. The debacle surrounding Butler/Doyle/Collins masked a lot of problems and started fan against fan primarily as the bookies made us odds on favourites and after 2nd half of last season. I just thought it unfair that Basham and Mcnulty seemed to be singled out as scapegoats - a fact that has been knocked on the head as both have proved decent footballers. No one likes being in this division, but as to what some fans expect is just beyond normal logic at times and has been admirably explained by a small number of vocal and vociferous "know nothings" that seem to sit all over the ground and find it hard to hold their own council at times.

As for babies - not sure if you are aware of Mrs Murphy having their first child recently - again a point mentioned by NC and may also point to his free flowing form and recent good scoring record of Jamie.

Perhaps we need a gigolo to go round the club - might make the Champions League that way Any takers?

Yeah I knew Murphy had become a father recently. Not least from his celebrations! I also think there are some fans who will moan regardless of what division we are in, sadly.

Can I just say that this person here has been one of the few, perhaps only one to support Basham in midfield since week 1, game 1.

I saw the Basham potential in our pre-season game against Fenerbace and likened him on here to Bob Booker then. He did have a dip in form around the start of the season proper, but that was coincidental with moving house and the birth of his baby. As any others have been starved of rest and sleep like this will relate that it is not a perfect way to prepare for sport of any kind.
Chris has got through that time and our biggest current problem is that there is only one of him to fill 2 positions that he is performing well in

I think generally we are a tolerant lot except for a small, vocal, vociferous and less than understanding minority who's actions and moans and groans should be challenged by more on here and then supported by the majority. South Stand has it's fair share of know nothing fans and Saturday's issues with the management needing to comment can only get worse unless it is rebuffed by reasoned, sensible arguments.

You're always going to have that type of fan who moans, abusive to his own players and officials.
I only went on the John St once when you could stand up in the mid seventies .
We had got escorted off the lane end and making our way back to the Kop and I'd never heard as much abuse directed at our players and these were mainly pensioners who had supported them years and never seen third division football how would they go off now!

I did put "one of the few" and if you have then that is fine - there weren't many.
My main point as expressed earlier is to try and get fans to give players a bit more time to settle in adjust/adapt. Whilst Basham was new, so were others and what with the early tantrums (apparently) of Doyle/Butler/Collins and sadly Maguire going it led to a very unhealthy situation early on - a situation that wasn't appreciate by some.
Anyway, I rest my case with Basham - the fella has come good with the majority and could well be on his way to Bob Booker Mk2.
