One bloke was determined to sing it for most of the afternoon and we all joined in.

Pretty sure it even got busted out when Bash retrieved the ball to give to their lad to take a throw in

One bloke at the back of the stand, a Basham hater, was giving him stick early into the Ipswich game, before going absolutely irate in response to the Basham song. Quite the spectacle.

Said it again today. This system of Wilder/Knill has so many plus points but none beats the sight of Bash marauding forward, taking everything in his path with him. Must be impossible to defend as half the time I’m not sure he knows what’s about to happen. What a man

I have run out of superlatives for him, an absolute Lion who gives absolutely everything each and every time he plays. I also don't remember us ever having a fitter player.

I just wish the players who’s job it is run at defenders Duff/Fleck would do it as often as Bash does...........or is that the ploy?

Just got to that point in your book when Wilder strides into training and says we are going to play with over lapping centre halves and that Bash was up for it immediately. As a club we are going to have real difficulty to replace Bash with Bash Mk2 to do this role. When Bielsa commented a couple of weeks back that he had "tried" to replicate some of what Wilder has introduced (and couldn't), I read it as the over lapping centre halves. It takes a certain type of player with a midfield type skill and Bash certainly has what's required in abundance. If only his final ball was better.

He’s an absolute legend.

During the pitch invasion at the end of the Northampton game after we had been promoted my mates got chatting to him on the pitch.

He shook their hands and told them how much it meant to him to finally get us back up where we belong. They thanked him for his efforts etc and got a cracking picture. He was a bit emotional about the whole thing and said he was proud to be a blade.

To be fair, the lad has already spent a couple of seasons in the Premier League, so his talent is never in doubt. He just needed to find the perfect club/position/system for him, which he absolutely has.

We have a few players in the category of ‘would be useless at any other club’ but I would say that’s most true of Basham. If he moved onto [insert non-descript club], I could see him being poor, as he most likely wouldn’t be RCB in a back 3, and wouldn’t buy in like he has here. I love the guy, and he is a proper blades player, he (out of all) epitomises what this club and current set up is all about.

One observation I made quite a while back was that United play well, Basham always play well, but when United don’t play well, then Basham is generally more often than not our Man of the Match.

What a lot of people don’t realise is, because Basham can look ungainly and clumsy at times, he doesn’t seem particularly skilful but he has got one of the best first touches at the club, and his close control is excellent.

He fits in to the RCB role perfectly because he was got the intelligence and experience to read the game, and he always has the fitness and stamina to constantly get up and down the pitch and to be where needs to be,

I've been saying Bash was 8 inches shorter he'd basically be a David Brooks that could defend haha

He runs with the ball, gets past people, gets it in dangerous areas and gets a few goals, fair enough not with as much flair and mostly on the wing but as long as the end result is the same who cares.
