Basham and Duffy

Both outstanding. All outstanding.

Because of where we have come from and where our players have come from we are still flying under the radar. Long may that continue. I hope they don’t realise how fucking awesome we are until it’s too late to stop us.

The transformation of these two, and others is nothing short of incredible. When we signed Duffy I must admit I thought 'another Woolford'. How wrong I was. The second time I was wrong was thinking he might not be able to make the step up this season.
Now, I love the guy and wish he was a few years younger.

Duffy has aways been a good player, difference is, hes changed from a winger to a free role, witch is suiting him down to the ground, because hes a clever player, opposing players struggle to pick him up. Sounds a bit silly, but hes our Messi! Except Messi wont run 70 yards back into defence.

I thought Stevens should have been mom today - he was superb. I’m really happy for Bash to have scored today as he works tirelessly every game. But then theres Duffy, Fleck, coutts, in fact all the lads. I cant honestly say that any one player doesnt put a shift in for this side and it makes me a very proud blade. Long may it continue. UTFB

Duffy was MOM all day long. He was the catalyst for almost everything today.
This quote is 100%.
Some worried about Coutts being out, but this man stepped up. We debated about mom, Bashan outstanding, Leon led the line, O’Connell, what a defender, but step up Mr Duffy and he did! To top it all the run back to defend and receive the standing ovation for doing so...goose bumps time! Proud to be a Blade

Steven said has been by far the largest upgrade we've seen. Quality championship player. Gus, I love our team at the moment! Didn't even play that well today and we're streets ahead of Ipswich!

I have to agree with all the comments I have just read thought it was very close for man of the match between Duffy and bash but for me Duffy just about nipped it. I thought he was excellent today he totally ran the show for us in the middle of the park and has really shown us what he can do time after time this season, I think the added pressure of brooks pushing him as well is also helping what a position we are in for them 2 to be fighting it out for the place at the minute. Bash was excellent also and was a nice little run to get him self in front of the defender for the goal. really hard to pick a man of the match between them both but as mentioned I had to just favour Duffy. I also though Clarke had another excellent game and ran his socks off and pressured there defenders all match just couldn't quite get the goal. I don't think Clarke was far behind them 2 for me and wish the shoot had just dipped another inch or 2 when he hit the cross bar because it had beat there keeper and he was just rooted to the spot. another good performance from them all again today at home and on to next week, can't wait already
That would have been a great goal from Clarke, robbed by the bar (just). I still criticise Clarke sometimes for halfhearted aerial challenges but on the whole he his deserving of his place.

Absolutely outstanding today. I was skeptical if they’d make the step up from League 1 but they certainly have. It was great to see Duffy sprinting the whole length of the pitch to get back and defend in the 2nd half. That for me typifies the level of commitment of our players.

Special mention to Lundstram too, he’s turning into a really good player for us. Hope his doubters all feel a bit silly now for writing him off after 2-3 games.
Great post. I was pretty confident that Basham would be Ok but worried about Duffy. I think he's been outstanding all season and rightfully won man of the match today even before his lung busting defensive run late on.

Also agree on Lundstram. He's looking better each time I see him play.

Part of Wilder/Knill's skill seems to be to not ask players to do things they can't do , but to focus on what they are good at. Freeman, Coutts, Basham, Duffy, Wright, O'Connell, all seem to have benefited from this, and perhaps Clarke, Lafferty and Sharp as well.

As a manager myself, perhaps it's something I should think on :)

Isnt it great when you have so many choices for man of the match when they have all played well! What a team! What a manager! What a club! UTB

Everyone played excellent today especially these two. However, I think Stevens deserves a mention n'all. I watched him closely today and the lads a machine, going forward and defensively. What a signing.

I don't generally join in with marking players each match but I really can't let today go without saying Duffy was 10/10.
Absolutely outstanding and unplayable at times.
Having watched Utd since '72 I was too young to appreciate the quality of football but since that part of following Utd switched on this is far and away the best footballing team I have ever seen us have.
We deserve this.
Enjoy it.
I am.
I am lucky enough to have seen Jimmy Hagan, Joe Shaw, Tony Currie, Alan Woodward, Eddie Colquhoun,Len Badger and a fair few others who were part of some very good times. I know exactly how you feel. Gets you, doesn`t it ?

Loving all this bonhomie and esprit de corps. This is what the forum should be about. Everybody picking their best player and then discussing their relative merits with each other like sensible human beings

As we know we are "cup half empty" people, perhaps we should have a worst man of the match award to even it up a bit so we can get back to the petty sniping and name calling.

In an effort to get the ball rolling I pick................. no, can't do it, they are all brilliant.
