Yes, I remember Barry and Tony Wagstaff, playing for the blades in the mid sixties, we had some great young players, Alan Woodward, David Munks, Len Badger, Mick Jones, a few more that I can't remember, found by Archie Clarke, all from the academy, playing in the Northern Intermediate League, we had a very good youth policy in them days, John Harris picked many if them in the first team, a very skillful set of players

RIP Barry, like you Ludgblade I remember that great Northern Intermediate team.
You can add Bernard Shaw, Ken Mallender, Alan Birchenall, Geoff Salmons, Mick Heaton, Phil Cliffe, ect ect.
Those were the days when you could sign all the local talent without them being nicked by the big boys.

Barry and Tony were Don and Dearne players. United got a lot of youngsters from that area at that time. Frank Barlow, Geoff Salmons, Ian Holmes, Mick Speigt Were others.

So sorry Barry, RIP, what talent we had in those days, I just loved going to the Lane. It seemed, I don't know, more honest somehow. The game was not finance driven to the extent it is now, and was better for it in my opinion.

Think the brothers came from Hoyland where I am currently. Mid 1960s team.
Think he was 78

RIP.
In those days I usually went with my Dad to the Lane.
He really liked Barry Wagstaff. He was not so impressed by his brother.

Before my time too but once a Blade, always a Blade.

RIP Barry and deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Before my time but we must honour all who form part of our heritage.

RIP Mr Wagstaff ❤️
