I've said it before, but I'm a fan of Bannan and this reinforces it.

He could have moved elsewhere but he's stood by them through the hardest of times.

If this was the Blades, he'd definitely have club legend status.

Rivalries aside, fair play to him. There aren't many like it these days.

He’s been top earner for years
He’s now still top earner with money guaranteed by pfa
Don’t fall for the I’m loyal bollocks - if he was any good he would have been bought years ago - he’s bang average on top money -

If the situation was reversed and this was Billy Sharp, we’d be lapping it up - and rightly so.

Anyone trying to see any negatives of this is simply blinkered.

Sure it’s not pure altruism and he’s had a handsome wage and a comfortable life for the last decade - but he’s stuck with em through thick and thinner and could easily have doubled or probably tripled their mandated £7k a week for one last pay day.

If he could’ve moved elsewhere. He’d have gone elsewhere. Why willingly stay where you never know if you’re going to be paid? Bloke has zero ambition. The only reason he’s been there for a decade.

As much as I can’t stand the piggy eyed, ginger, bald, stumpy piggy bastard, part of me respects him for staying at the club and showing some loyalty.

The other part of me thinks that it’s the easy thing to do for him. He’s obviously settled, isn’t going to get to be the main guy at any other champ level club and with his career on the downward spiral, he’s only going to get less Mobile and more shit.

Yeah he’s been a really good player but the pig fans have built him into some sort of world class, Footballing semi god. He’s not going to get that anywhere else.

Other than that, I couldn’t give a fuck about him other than looking forward to seeing his teary little face as they get a right trousering every week.

Plus if Wendy go to the wall he's got an £84k cast iron 12 month contract that will need honouring.

Fair play to Bannan, for all the shit we'll all give him, it's truly admirable to see such loyalty in football. Whilst I don't think he's the Pirlo-esc footballer many Wednesday fans paint him to be, he's a very decent championship footballer. He stayed loyal in league one and is now sacrificed his own earnings. On a free he'd surely get triple the pay to stay. And before you all pile in... Yes it's still a massive wage, yes he's earned a shit load off Wednesday and no he probably doesn't need money. Doesnt change that he's been incredibly loyal to em.

Not buying this loyalty thing one little bit. There is a reason he has signed a deal now instead of when they offered him one way back, and even with the 7k in play he didn’t sign it until now because he was trying to find a club, forget the agent talk that Villa or Boro were after him, made up nonsense. I was told he was in talks with Notts County a week or two back but they couldn’t offer more than the 7k at weds. So after trying his best to find a club and one last biggish pay day the reality set in that no one wants a 36 year old that wants more than 7k, no one. So reluctantly he’s resigned and he’s a absolute hero 🙈

I would imagine that he is also trying to dip his greasy little pink trotters into the world of football coaching and ultimately management and he knows SWFC are a basket case who will probably pay him £7k a week whilst he does his coaching badges, builds contacts and networks, and gets himself known in that line of work. The hammerings they will get this season will be wrote off as they all know they are basically doomed to relegation and they will sit with the Danish racist patsy anyway. All whilst his little piggy friends grunt their hero worship at him. Its a no lose situation for him, and he's playing the 'i'll stay loyal' card whilst feathering his nest. Hes not daft and he knows they will lap it up as they think hes far better than he actually has ever been.

There is a reason why he has been there for 10 years plus and thats because hes been way over paid for his limited ability. Basically a big ginger prawn in a very tiny pool.

We've done o.k. with ex Wednesday players in the past,I have no problem at all with that.

Jesus, I just saw this thread and threw up in my mouth!!
Even though I know he's just signed a new "contract" over at the food bank club, it still had that affect.

Just wait until the bullets start being fired in anger and hes captain of a team getting its arse handed to it every weekend. I can't wait to see Captain Loyal looking like a right sulky fucker on the highlights as he berates his own young team time and time again whilst being at fault himself... he often looks a right petulant little scroat who is never at fault in his own mind. Captain Fantastic he's not when the chips are down. I can't wait to see his face looking like a slapped arse.

And it won't take long for the Wendies to start turning on their team (give it 10 losing games or so) and every one of em will be in the firing line, even Banana Man and the young grunts. Its easy to be romantic and defiant about it all in pre season, not as easy when you are turning up every other weekend to see your team get royally shafted and look like shite.
