I seem to remember that each Premier League club has a club specific ball design, is that still the case (no pun intended)?

The ones the top sides use seem to gravitate towards the opposition goal.

It'll be a Nike Merlin 2 I believe, this is a variant of it that was going to be used in La Liga until Puma won the contract.

Expect there to be more colour on it for the Prem, the lime bits will probably be black for example.

As a mate of mine put it - " They're like fucking beach balls , which is about right for a bunch of nancies playing in carpet slippers " .

Bit extreme I know , but having been brought up on balls that weighed about the same as a crate of beer and steel toecaps , I know where he's coming from .:)

Alan Shearer did a documentary about heading footballs and brain conditions, and the actual dry weight of a ball now is essentially the same as it was in the 60s and earlier, and has been in the laws of the game for 80+ years, about 350g.

Difference is old leather balls sucked up water like nobody's business and quickly became twice as heavy if not more.

But the steel toe caps were for kicking opponents...

I noticed the cones & clipboard coaching staff were booting & throwing the EFL Mitres into the crowd once the players went back to the dressing rooms after the warm ups at Stoke. Not needed on voyage.....

Cheeky fucker a couple of rows in front of me jumped up and grabbed one that was going straight into my hands. Shitwasp.

Used to have a Mitre Delta with the old Prem logo, I believe it was "reappropriated" from a Junior Blades match at Birley School.

At skoyal, a few of us lads put to and bought one like that. Think I went and got it from a shop on Spital hill. We played before morning bell, morning and afternoon breaks and all dinner every day. Took turns in taking it home and bringing it back next day, nobody forgot it. Must have been the most kicked anything in the history of the world. Never even had a puncture.

If you headed it, you looked like you’d been wearing a very tight tiara....

£105 for a footy? Whilst the players parade round in luminous pink boots with socks built in.

I'm only early 30s, but what was wrong with a pair of Copa mundials, puma kings and a proper footy?!

Jesus fucking Christ.

I still have my Kangaroo leather Puma Kings, probably bought around 1990.

Same as football shirts, you can get the regular £40 one if you're not bothered or the full beans moisture wicking, air conditioned, tailored mega shirt that the players actually wear for £90.

Unless you're a Wendy fan and then you just get an itchy, sub-Sunday league, polyester bin bag worth £12.99 for £90.
