Well that's gonna slow the game down :( vacuumin 't grass where dirty balls have rolled and flowers in the corner flag holes plus half time will be 30 minutes cause eveyoneone will have to take their boots off before they go inside. ;)

Hope she has a great day, what are the regular ball boys doing cooking buns for the after match buffet and washing the kit?

Yes, they have.

As some of you who are interested might know, the ladies & girls are now officially part of the club, that's a big positive. It has cost the club a pittance compared to the likes of Man City who have really gone for it, because our club took over a very well established set up. We are streets ahead of others in our region, a lot of this was down to Jim Phipps who quietly pushed this sort of community involvement, and persuaded the prince of the value of it. Something to feel proud of for any Blade who has a daughter.

One of the ladies players helps coach my son's under 12 team since last season. You can see a difference already.

Can only imagine the reaction to a female coach when I was that age.

When I was that age if you'd have gobbed off she'd have given you a clip and if you went home and moaned to your dad he'd give you one too, coz you probably deserved it.

I was on about the reaction within the game as a whole, not the behaviour of the kids.

I'm all for equality in football...

and a few 'cheerleaders' like they have at Palace wouldn't go amiss...

Not just those with daughters but any fan to be proud of, but I echo your sentiments.

I've always wondered why we didn't have a female team so it's great to see the club pushing this and making us a more inclusive football club all round.

Am I imagining things or did we have a women's team years ago (early 90's) I'm sure I remember seeing a picture of a women's team in a programme once.

Mid 90s, yes we did, but it was effectively a Hallam University set up, operated by them with us just putting our name to it. This season is the first time we have had a ladies & girls set up actually funded by, and a part of the club.

United's girls set up is streets ahead of our local rivals. Great the club is getting them involved on Saturday. Shame they couldn't get all the teams in the official kits this season due to the Adidas shenanigans though!

The Blades U14 girls, including my daughter, are doing their duty on Saturday, some great young footballers amongst them. They will try to do a great job, but cut them some slack please, they aren't used to doing it.

Nick,do you mean Sheffield United Community Ladies U14 based out at Westfield?

They were until the end of last season, but they are now, as of this season, officially part of the club, and no longer based at Westfield.

Do you know Stuart Burton? He managed the U14's as was last season. He's a good mate of mine. I manage Sheffield FC U15,U14 as of last year. We play in the same league as Stuarts team.

Yes, Stuart is a great bloke. I think I probably know you by sight, too. I'm involved on the girls side, beyond the first team it's a great club. UTB.

Yes, U14 this season. She captained Steel City Wanderers to the league title for two seasons and was the league's top scorer, then got very badly injured. Signed for the Blades a year ago & is loving it, as am I.

Great stuff mate. I've managed my lot for 6 years. Started as Crosspool Jnrs then we got headhunted by Sheffield FC. TBH I'd love to get involved with SUFC for obvious reasons. Will phone Stuart and have a chat
We were set to dominate until we lost Sam Grahams sister to the academy. The season before we lost her she hit 50 goals in the season!.

If you have got your coaching badges, there are definitely openings. Especially coaching the girls. You would need a minimum of FA2. Once you are in you can progress quite quickly, but it starts off as part time.

I've got coaching badges.Wouldn't want to go beyond what I do now on that front as I have a very well paid full time job. I'll speak to Stuart. We're overdue a chat and a friendly match anyway. Thanks for your conversation mate, and good luck to your young un this season. And tomorrow. My young un and I will give them a cheer from the BLUT!

The feedback from the young 'un from pitch side is that the speed of the game is scary, and John Fleck is the sweariest man in the world. They are doing it again v Leicester, bravo United for involving them so much.

Looked as if it went well. Just before half-time, JOC gestured to one of the girls near the Kop to slow down, and she held the ball for a good further 10 seconds. Then near the end, I think it was the same girl who kept he ball the perfect length of time before returning it to their left-back. Job done!
I said earlier that it would be good to get reports of matches on here. Particularly if they get a cup run going, it would increase interest. The information in the match programme is bound to be less up-to-date. We'll know equality has arrived when everyone on here is demanding a 17-year-old lass should be in the ladies first team, slags her off when she demands a move and goes to a bigger club, and then blames McCabe for not insisting on a big enough sell-on percentage.

The pair at the kop end looked to be fancying young Brooks , the ladies always seem to have the eye for a good life time meal-ticket , when they see one .

I thought they did a great job. Although you wouldve thought they would at least change the bibs. as bit weird for all girls to have ball boys throw goal back to me
