Never understood Prestridge being on CW's backroom staff.

Isn't he one of those do gooder sports science types?

Sports Scientist I think
I understood him being on the staff but not specifically on the bench on a matchday he was always involved in conversations with Wilder and Knill on what looked like tactics and substitutions
The fitness of the squad this season left something to be desired

Started out that way wilder brought him with him from Northampton then I think he started doing some coaching aswell

I've been chirping all season that we needed a review Of our sports science/strength and conditioning - guess this negates that and the new boss will bring his own team in...

Is this common knowledge? I suggested it to our Whatsapp group a few months ago, as a possible contributing factor in our down turn. A case of just 'work harder' not being the solution.

Just bits I've read, probably on here.

Pretty lame "write up" of thanks on the club's website - it's barely tweet-length. Couldn't even be arsed to get the tenure of the staff right - just gone with "a number of years". And they still managed to fit in a typo.

I know this isn't a big deal in the grand scheme but jeez, would it have killed them to put a bit more effort in?

I don't think they trained harder over lockdown last time, look at Mousset and Fleck's waistbands. They definitely don't scream 'too much training' at me.

I wasn't really meaning in a pure physical sense, although that could be a factor, more in the sense of being 'over coached' - basically sucking the creativity out of them and coaching the minutiae, to a fault.

That Bad Taste is lingering and affecting all aspects of the CW era.

If it's true about the players being overtrained during lockdown, then we owe someone a kick in the nuts.

I am not going to hold it against them too much, even if it is true. It was a situation noone had encountered before and they probably thought (quite logically imo) that they needed to compensate somehow for the additional time that players had been inactive and in isolation.

But they still played a huge part in giving us 4 magical seasons. Just sad to see it all evaporate, but accept that it is time to move on and bring in fresh faces.

Not unexpected.
I don't know much about the work of Mike Allen but Matt Prestridge has been at the forefront of the tremendous physicality shown by the players over several years - and the squad has been relatively injury free before Lock down 1 occurred - and Darren Ward, to my eye, has been a top GK coach when you see what he has done with Dean Henderson and with Aaron Ramsdale. Ward will be a big miss IMO.

However, is this set of departures going to be connected with that team linking up again somewhere else?
Is the mutual consent thing an indication that they have asked to be relieved of their duties for the remainder of this season because they will soon be needed elsewhere?

Dont understand the vitriol they were thanked for there service and I imagine had a decent pay off.
What do you want the club to do !
Issue them with a gold medal !
Rant over !!
I guess some recognition of the fact that when they came in we were half way down the third division and now we are dropping out of the Premier League.
The alternative is what has happened in the statement. Might have well as posted,

"Matt Prestridge, Darren Ward and Mike Allen have left the Club by mutual consent. "
"Meh"
