Why will we make a profit on Souza? To make a profit on a player they need to have performed better than when they first arrived and show consistency and influence. I'm curious as to your logic on this one.

It depends partly on remaining contract length, not purely on performances in a really poor team.

Most players look dreadful in a dreadful team. Fleck went on a free from a league 1 club, Coutts was despised by our fans before Wilder came in, Basham was abysmal playing CM for Adkins.

All players ended up looking brilliant in the same division, and also quality in the division above. We are going from the toughest league in the world to a much easier one, nobody should be surprised if Traore, Slimani and Trusty end up looking like good players for the level.

I'm not suggesting they will turn out to be decent, they could all end up being shite.

But the amount of fans who talk like it's a confirmed fact that such players are trash and belong in League 2 is crazy. Some of these players are incredibly young with time to develop, give them a chance.

Yes, of course it depends on how much someone is willing to pay. But there will certainly be clubs outside of the UK wanting him & we have no idea how much they will be willing to pay.

But the point is that players in the final year of a contract can be picked up for a fee that is arguably quite a bit less than their true market value & be sold on for a profit early in their next contract even if they haven’t set the world alight.
