Said it time and time again, the loyalty points system is reducing our away followings
It's not so long ago that an away game with us near the top of the Championship would have seen us take huge followings across the Pennines to places like Bolton, Wigan and Blackburn
These clubs can give out huge away allocations, but by the time our first draft of highest points holders have made their minds up it's too late to ask for further allocations.

Keep the loyalty points system by all means but only enforce it when the game warrants it or if the allocation is quite small. If a club will let us have four or five thousand tickets just ask for them and sell them, the keenest fans will still get them first anyway but at least many other fans will be able to make their plans in sufficient time.

Excellent post.
All this sliding scale of points for dates etc, put a lot of people off.

Not sure it is a valid argument thus season. Every single game has gone to general sale. If people were that bothered they could just swap the tickets to sit together with mates if they have different points. I did this a few times last season - bought a ticket. then went too general sale so bought my mate/s tickets and just swapped mine.

I think the streams, red button, the novelty of a new league has worn off.

I speak for myself but I love doing new grounds and seeing new towns/places. Most of the groundsplaces I have done and I am sure many others have so it loses its novelty a bit. However, I love a London/Manchester trip too. I could not get yesterday but would have considered going but I have to be honest and say the stream certainly will affect the number of games I go to. Its nowhere near the same as going and I love a good away day but finances/combined with the fact I have done so many before means it is quite easy to give most a miss and watch at home. I hope to be able to get to a few such as Forest and maybe Rotherham around Xmas when the travel is easier but the longer trips especially on a midweek I can understand a lot giving it a mess.

Here are the stats you wanted regards Wednesdays away support at Millwall for their last 2 visits.

2014-15 1,001
2017-18 1,502

Wednesday never seem to large numbers to Millwall or Leeds, wonder why?
Bottle jobs , oopps sorry not paying that price for tickets

But the Wednesday fan in the Opening Post said they always sell out at Millwall. Your figures must be incorrect.

They always believe their own propaganda, their delusions often put a smile on my face.
They seriously believe that they sell out all their away matches and
They also seriously believe that if their ticket prices were lower then they’d average close to 30K this season.

I’m often teasing their young fans quoting facts. Some still refuse to accept that it’s been over 50 years since they last averaged over 30,000 and that’s with an away end holding over 6,000.

Anybody got a link (if a site exists) for historic away figures?
Basically I’m arguing with a pig about how many we’re taking to Millwall to how many they’ve taken on a Saturday 3pm. I’m not saying we’re going to take more than them because it’s generally accepted amongst gutless wonder Blades fans who believe the piggy hype they’ve got a slightly better away following, the pig I’m arguing with is saying they’re far superior and sell out at Millwall every time. I’m rather sceptical on this though.

I’m not after a site just for this reason though I’m generally a saddo that likes looking at stats, facts and figures.

There you go, fixed it for you.

Just ask your pig mate about the 6 or 7 thousand home gates they used to get in the 70s or the 300 away following they took to Newcastle last time they were in the Prem!

The last time they were in the Premier League Man Utd, Liverpool, Us (when we were there) and Leeds would regularly fill Leppings Lane upper and lower tiers plus the derelict corner. More than 8000 fans.
Clubs like Villa, Newcastle, Forest, Derby, Chelsea, Everton, Spurs, Man City would regularly bring 5000 +

And still no 30,000 average attendance, despite the success they had during that period.

I got sick of a mate of mine waffling the usual bullshit last year and rather than just ignoring him I started arguing the toss with him. I used FACTS like the above, and all he could do was get more and more aggressive.

As a means of ending the conversation he said "I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU SAY, WE ARE FUCKING TEN TIMES BIGGER THAN YOUR LOT"

The stereotypical closing statement that enables him to metaphorically stick his fingers in his ears and sing "la la la la, I'm not listening"

They need psychiatric help, but unfortunately it would be similar to Tony Soprano receiving it

This would be good. I’d love to go to away games but as I’m not a season ticket holder I just assume it’s not worth trying.

It’s cheaper for them to watch away games than go to home games (almost)! ;)
