Terrible display to start the season with a well drilled Millwall to come on Saturday......stinks of last season....
Complete change to the teams structure required...
My one and only comment from last night but just to clarify do you mean the first part of last season or the part from when PH took over and a table from that point on had us finishing 2nd?

I was running through the games earlier he’s taken away from home, they’re worse than anything Slav served up: Derby, Coventry, Stoke, Preston (2 goal lead against 10 men), then yesterday, add that into the mix. And there’s bound to be some I’ve missed off.

Absolutely abject performances.

I stand steadfast by the opinion that we got into the play offs on the basis of being the best of a completely average bunch of play off chasers last season.

Some of the performances last season were drab under Hecky. Stoke and Millwall were particularly poor. The Reading game at home was another one where if we’d have got a point from that it would have been absolute daylight robbery.

A couple of decent halves of football towards the back end of last season is not enough to convince me that Hecky ball is any good. On the whole, other than the odd game, we have been slow, pedestrian and quite frankly, fucking boring to watch.

I worryingly agree with a lot of that. MGW got us out of a lot of holes last season.

Yes there were good performances, but there was plenty of bad ones to back up the ying and yang.

Fair play to him for getting us to the play offs, but that was simply by getting the players to play a system they knew like the back of their hand, and having one of the best players to ever grace the championship in attacking areas.

Hopefully McAtee can be something similar and we can limp over the line, but the away performances must improve to do so. If we throw away 80& of our away games we are fucked before we've even started.

Gentle bump.

It’s only West Brom in the cup… but, it’s only Sheffield United in the cup for them?

Same lacklustre performance by the sounds of it

Strong at home , look pretty useless away from home since last Christmas but doesn't matter just bed wetting

Is this a false narrative the fans are creating? The climb in the league last year under Hecky would suggest so.

Feel like every time we don’t get three away from home now it’s going to play to this narrative

The away performances are a valid concern. Not saying we should base anything solely on tonight's output as I haven't seen it but you don't get the feeling we are likely to put in consistent performances away from the Lane.

Not sure what we do to rectify it, maybe it's more a belief/psychological barrier than anything tactical.

It’s happening far too often not to be a concern imo

We’re good at home, and it’s a good job or we’d be closer to the bottom 6 than the top 6

They'll soon stop travelling away in numbers if we continue to be negative away from home. Tonight we had sod all to lose re result. I was hoping Hecky would tell them to go out and entertain and create. Alas seemingly not. Dull again away from home and Nil scored.

Go with a point and leave with a point, better than the 0 points we tend to get under Hecky
I remember we played Chesterfield and scored inside 10 minutes. We drew. His talk after was more or less what you said. Goal up and defend. If we concede we've got what we started with.

Nah. If you score inside 10 minutes keep going.

Tell them politely to “fucking sort it out lads” would be one approach. My son is 10 years old and for the past 2 seasons has wanted to go to any away games we could get tickets for. This season he says it’s pointless as we’ll lose.

Wise kid, I might have to start listening to him

16 away games under Hecky (including cups and playoffs)

5 wins, 4 draws, 7 defeats. That's not terrible in terms of aiming for 6th.

Failed to score 8 times. Scored 1 or less 11 times. That's awful and means you need to be almost flawless defensively

It's going to put an awful lot of pressure on the home form if it doesn't pick up

I suspect he did, it's the players fault this, they've some sort of mental restriction when playing away from home

9 results vs 7 defeats. When said like that, it's not bad at all. But broken down like you have done, it doesn't read well if we concede. Which, considering how much we defend is always a risk.

Why is it the players? They're capable. They played brilliantly on Saturday. It's not the players, it's the instructions.

I've no issue with the result tonight. Various factors, plenty of new faces and still getting up to speed. Maybe some of us are being a tad too critical but the fact remains we seem to underperform away from home in chances created and goals scored (nevermind the results) and it's happening too often if we tag on last season. As Olivia Newton-John might have said 'we better shape up' away from home. The 'Sheff Utd 0' part of the result when we play away from home is getting too familiar. Let's hope we start to play more positively on Sunday and heaven forbid, score some goals away from the Lane. Early days yet so can't be too critical.

Yep I’ve been and we were bobbah tonight but if you think we’re crap away under Hecky have a think about Fulham, QPR and Forest. They were great nights. We can do it but only when we really have to.
