Away end lower tier Bolton match

Looks as though the first 9 rows in BLLT aren't on sale. Looks to be about 1,000 tickets available at the moment, though I guess this could be increased by adding another few hundred in the section closest to the south stand.
 
No need to over-think it.

Put away fans on the lower tier and leave it at that, just as we did in the Premiership season. The upper tier of the Lane end has the best acoustics in the ground due to the steep rake, and it should simply never be given to away fans. Its far more difficult to create a noise on the lower tier so that is the ideal place to put away fans.

Moreover, at a handful over 3,000 seats (I believe that after the Liverpool match, when the penny had dropped at the club that they should restrict away fans to the lower tier, it was Everton that brought the biggest number in the Prem season at 3,002), the lower tier is plenty big enough for most visitors.

And I don't see what relevance there is in the fact that some clubs could bring more than 3,000. So what? We're not running the club to look after the interests of as many away fans as possible. There are plenty of occasions when we could sell more tickets for our away matches but that's tough luck; we get what we're given. In a similar vein, Man U could sell thousands more tickets for every single match they play but so what?
3,000 is a perfectly ample allocation to offer to visiting clubs whatever division we're in, and that is catered for by the lower tier.

What the club probably do urgently need to address, however, and this is one of the factors at the root of why the lower tier has become a problem lately (along with SYP being frightened of their own shadows, of course) is the positioning of the disabled enclosure at that end of the ground. The club has created an issue there and has been reluctant (ever since we played Millwall a few years ago and it got silly in that corner with away fans and H-Block getting heated) to open any of the seats within 20 yards of the disabled enclosure - hence the ever present netting both on the Lane lower and H-Block and why there seems to be a tacit acceptance that 900 seats on that end are now simply out of bounds. Surely, there has to be a better spot to put the disabled enclosure? Why put it where, if there is to be any, shall we say, over-spilling of emotions, disabled fans will be bang in the middle of it.

Agree, gates should go up to about 24K
However a lot depends on pricing.
I think our matchday prices will increase by a shocking amount
But there will be huge savings for season ticket and membership discounts.
I reckon next season it will be almost compulsory to be either a season ticket holder or member.
 
Pretty sure Bradfords away allocation is 2,800,Bolton only took 2,500 last Saturday,should have had his stag do in Bradford !!
 
Just like to add a huge WELL DONE to the club for this decision. More and more the club is reconnecting with the fanbase on every leverl. I can't help but see the hand of Tufty in this. He knows what being a BLADE is and I suspect is influential in giving his opinions as to how we should progress in areas not restricted to what happens on the pitch.
I am increasingly impressed by how we are becoming ever more connected at all levels as the dots previously disconnected are being joined up again.

The 2,990 capacity in the lower tier was in the PL season when no seats were netted off.
Now the SY Police insist on netting over 900 seats at either side, reducing away capacity to 2,100.

Also away allocations have a massive effect on finances as we'all no doubt be charging £30 to £35 there next season. And as already been mentioned it's £40K per match extra policing costs to have away fans in the lower tier compared to the upper tier.

23 matches x £40K = £920,000, unless your a PL club 1 million is a significant sum.

I agree with you, we should do everything to get rid of the netting on the BL lower tier end and just give away fans the 2,990 and move the disabled area to another part of the ground.

The SY Police might be happier if we block off more seats in the corner of the south stand and corner of the family stand. This would reduce our capacity further in those stands but at least we'd then have the BL upper tier which would need any seats netted off.

You only have to give away team 2000 tickets in the Championship.

This may sound simplistic...but surely by offering the lower tier only to away fans, we remove the need for ANY loss of capacity due to segregation. Blades all the way round from the corner to the office block in the top tier, and away fans downstairs.

IF we get promoted, surely this could result in extra revenue due to not losing however many hundred seats chopping the top tier in half?

No sufficient segregation (access is via the John Street stand) and I'd estimate it's about 1200 seats short of what we're required by the Football League to offer.

So while I applaud the intent, the practicalities unfortunately render this a non-starter.

You can't do that because the enterance, toilets and catering facilities are inside the John Streer family stand.

Also the corner bit only holds 900 seats
And as stated earlier we MUST give away teams a minimum of 2,000 seats as per FL rules.

Although our fcuk-witted police were happy to sell it to Bolton fans they are only allowing 1000 Blades to buy tickets because they can't cope outside.

Got to say i dont understand we dont give them bottom tier make so much sense.

I understand the pitch invasion problem but if idiots want to get arrested & banned then they deserve everything they get, players go to fans not the other way around

Sponsorship makes me sad. Kennedys Kop ? Duchy Homes Family Enclosure?

I know it's an extra few quid in the kitty, but it stinks of knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing. I don't really see what the sponsor gets out of it either, to be honest. Is there a single United fan anywhere who refers to the Hualing South Stand? I've all on not to call it 'the new South Stand' and show my age.
