So you know that for a fact
when the unfit players are all fully fit we wont change
clubs thats gone from mid table to get promoted before
that had been as indifferent as weve been
they changed , but we cant

be a day to give up football if I thought that

Think there’s only Brayford left who realistically could make a difference. It might’ve been a valid argument when Harris, Done, Coutts, Alcock, etc. were all out but we’ve not improved since their return even with the addition of Hammond. Brayford will help if he can get back to owt like his old levels but that’s a big if and even then, 1 player can only take us so far.

ps. he didn't say it was a fact, said it was unlikely to change.

I'll come back to you tonight after our convincing 3 or 4 goal victory.

Marker in the sand night tonight.

You dont half quote the past alot when youve already said that its irrelevant.

So without discussing the past tell me why you think Adkins is any good and why we'll turn it around?
if the past irrelevant no one will ever mention us losing in play offs then
or having sold players
make a deal with you
I wont mention if the moaners dont

they still are not match fit , got to let them get up to speed

Real Madrid brought 5 big names back v barca , but it was oh so obvious they were way way off the pace
and they cost a tad more than ours did , youd expect more , but if you aint match fit , you aint at your best

were you there in div 4 ?
or still enjoying your boxing day win
Division 4, them were't days.
I used to get complimentary tickets for the South Stand when I was at school, so I went along.
Been hooked ever since.
It was like SUFC was the Pied Piper leading a merry dance with all us kids in tow.

Coutts and Done have been back a couple of months now. Harris is maybe still getting back to match fitness. Alcock has never been consistently good enough hence has been loaned out. Wallace and Kennedy are never likely to be fit enough to be consistent contributors. That only leaves Brayford and to some extent, Harris. Like I’ve said, I can see reasons for expecting some improvement but to think we’re suddenly going to become worldbeaters averaging over 2 points a game when we’ve not even played the divisions best 2 (In my opinion) teams yet is naïve. I would love to be wrong. I go to every game hoping against hope that we see a good performance and a win and I try to take comfort from the odd thing we do well but it’s hard to see such a drastic change. Small improvements to give us a shot at top 6 I can see though.

This season I suggest the 2nd placed automatic promotion spot will need a lowish points haul of around 87 points as there is a lack of outstanding teams.

We have 28 games remaining and need 61 points to get 87 points, that's 2.2 points per game on average.

The manager knows his players now and has the key signing of Dean Hammond bedding into the team. He talks about him as though he will stay with us until the end of the season at least. The manager considers his presence vital so we have to treat that level of respect at face value and trust him.

Round about this stage of the season the manager should searching for a settled side and style of play. If we are going to achieve automatic promotion and over 2.2 points per game then we desperately need to improve.

Who knows the manager might have a couple of rabbits to pull out of the hat in January but if we don't settle down and urgently improve and then gain some consistency this year then we could be out of touch by January 1st.

The remaining fixtures this year are listed below and I guess the results to show what's needed to gather points at that rate:

Shrewsbury(H) 3 points
Barnsley (A) 3
Coventry (H) 3
Scunthorpe (A) 1
Wigan (A) 1
Bradford (H) 3

Total 14 points = 2.3 points per game average.

If we do achieve 14 points or more then we have the hope of a Happy New Year but anything less could lead to us being also-rans and at best in the Play-Off lottery.

I think we can do it. Do you?

Goodness me !!

I'm amazed and startled that anybody ( other than NA ) is still even considering us as an outside chance of Automatic promotion, because we're more likely to get dragged down into the bottom half than we are to get near to top two places.

We have nowhere near a good enough squad to get close to the top two and I would suggest that we need 4 / 5 players in the JTW ( because we clearly never had any intention of getting anybody in sooner ) just to get into play-off places and hope to compete for 5th / 6th place. We need a desperate and urgent infusion of pace, strength and imagination throughout the squad.

We don't have a decent GK, a decent CH, a decent CM, or a decent striker at the Club currently and I would be astonished if any of our squad make the League 1 team of the year.

In short ...... we are a very ordinary, pedestrian, predictable, mid-table L1 side and I'm gutted to admit it !!! :(

As we all know football is a funny old game. I reckon we have ended numerous games this season gobsmacked that points have drifted away somehow. I reckon we have been unlucky with injuries and hard done by lady luck and referees.

A couple of slices of luck and a dose of confidence after a couple of wins could set us off on a roll.

I presume Hamm ond is the sort of leader within the dressing room who can help harness any confidence.

Of course we can do it. Whether we will is another matter.

Sorry mate ...... but I think we need a fair few big slices of luck, a dose of confidence after a couple of wins, four / five new players in the JTW and a review of tactics to set us off on a roll !!
