Austerity

Looks like Adkins has fallen for the deception. He's now looking through his "rammel drawer"(squad) and thinking they could come in handy some point.
It seems this squad aren't as useless as we thought they were. But being useless is forgivable. While being half decent and not putting in a shift . . . . . .That is much much worse.
This squad had failed us and their manager. I would still bin as many of them as we can.

The main question is 'will the owners continue to subsidise the club to the extent they have been and, if not, how much are they prepared to subsidise the club by?'

As we don't know the answer, we're guessing.

If they're prepared to continue to cover the losses we're currently making, then there's plenty of room for manoeuvre. If they aren't then are they prepared to cover any losses at all? Because the wages we save releasing all the players out of contract isn't enough to cover our losses.

Whatever they tell us at Fans Forums can be taken with a pinch of salt so we won't know for sure until the summer transfer window closes.

Oh, like you've supported yours ?

Oh dear, even after sobering up you're still struggling I see...

I made a statement.
You claimed this was 'bs'

"Nearly right but no cig
Usual mixture of fact and incorrect supposition"

What you failed to do was point out which bits were indeed 'fact' and which bits were 'incorrect supposition'

As I stated last night, I understand why pedants such as yourself act in such a manner when struggling a bit to reply.

Now if you'd simply gone through my list and pointed out what was fact/incorrect supposition we could all move forwards and you'd save yourself a bit of time from posting abuse/memes in tandem with your new pal Barney

.'.and you're supposed to be the brains of the outfit!'

I told you which bit was incorrect.

Sean, I tried to help you two out last week, can't you rise above all this? Bitter animosity if I may say so. Press 'ignore'. I know it's none of my business.

Yes, I'm presenting a negative outlook on our current plight and McCabes role in it...but then ten years of decline tends to have that effect on one.

In the past I've stuck up for the bloke, but there are two sides to every story and these things should be discussed on 'fan boards' especially in light of 'austerity' and McCabes claims.

If your response is to stick yer head in the sand, stick everyone on ignore who posts stuff you disagree with then all power to you...

Alternately, instead of simply posting 'that's bs', and then stropping off without further explaination, you could address the issues and point out the 'bs'.

Yes. You stated which 'bit' you felt was incorrect but you failed to state why you believe this to be the case...

As I stated originally, I'm happy to stand corrected, so if I've used the wrong terminology or am completely out the ball park here, then please, fire away..

You seem distressed?

Indeed.

You appear to have nothing to add other than a bit of abuse and a few memes...Now I don't mind a bit of 'banter' but I usually find the general chat section the place for 'bat and ball' games.

..now where did I put those virtually worthless shares...

Okay.

I do regret saying 'bullshit' but our discussion had gone on endlessly without any sign of either of us making any sense of what each other was saying. Some of what you wrote made me suspect you were taking the mick but that may not have been the case so I apologise; I had asked you if you were playing games though.

Fair play to you Woodwardfan
I'll look forward to further chats..hopefully more about our successes on the pitch :)

Where does austerity come into it ,the board have to back the manager ( Adkins. ) with a decent budget or we are going no where.
We lose in the region of 5 million a year in this division, the board may decide on a different strategy as throwing big money at it hasn't worked.
In my opinion that's not austerity it's common sense.

That's the entire point of this thread that you were whining about last night.

All the signs coming out of the club since the board's no show in January suggest reduction not investment:

You say the board 'have to back the manager' but they show signs of cutting not backing.

Take your point but a competitive budget is backing the manager and he will be bringing in recruits whether it be league 1 or championship.
Our owners can't just with draw support as to continue to stutter in this division is not sustainable.
I look forward to some interesting movement in the transfer market. , both incoming and outgoing.

You're completely ignoring what I'm saying and comments made by Jim Phipps and Adkins about "re-sizing", "Cutting our cloth" and "Already spending next years budget".

Thanks for your valuable contribution to this thread.

Finlay is a serious contributor, listen to what he's posting, it's a balanced view as well as yours, it's just that it's different.:)

That's what debate is all about.

For what it's worth I believe that we fans are over-reacting to the manager's comments which are simply preparing the ground and managing expectations.

This summer his activity levels will be restricted to a small degree if we can't move on all the players we hope to get rid of. In actual fact they are not bad players but they present an apparently insurmountable challenge to our manager because he doesn't feel able to integrate them, while at the same time such as Coutts, Cuvelier and McEveley are apparently OK, for whatever reasons, they are not much better footballers, but there we go.

I agree with Finlay. The manager will get a plentiful budget. Just ask him the direct question in front of the owners at the Fans Forums.

One thing which the Fans Forums will dispel is this nonsense about the owners tying the various managers' hands behind their backs with regard to funding.

Just ask Adkins on the night you are there. Has he got enough budget to get us promoted. The answer is yes and so it has been for the past 5 years.

I'm sure usually he is. In this thread he simply whined about its existence as it was too negative for him and then dismissed the premise of it without offering any counter argument.

Respect. Have another read.

These last two paragraphs are highly subjective and simply don't tally with what we've witnessed this season.

I'll repeat below all his posts on your thread and ask you why you state that?

What a pathetic lot you are all this negativity after thrashing Chesterfield 3-0 ( it should have been 6. ) we still have an outside chance of play offs and
the negativity is shocking ,let's leave next seasons budget to the future and get us over the line this season.
Our budget next season will be competitive let's leave that till later ,now get behind the team ,we can do it. !!

Nothing wrong with debating it but all the debaters are negative charlies

Enjoyed a pint on the back of that win this afternoon Barney.

That's how I see it Wincobank lots to be positive about even if we don't make the play offs nice to hear from a positive blade

We will see in the summer won't we !!

Now then Pete, Finlay had a pint after the game which we won, he was happy, he said what he thought and it was fair actually, certainly nothing serious. Since then he has been the model poster. Know your posters and where they are coming from and whether they talk sense. Some other posters might have been sorry we won for whatever reason, who knows?

Disagree. Respect. and what about the first three paragraphs?

I disagree. We're responding to the leaders of the club constantly talking about cutting back and cutting costs.

We've absolutely no idea what the budget will be but all the noises out of the club don't sound good.

It's all well and good simply saying "We'll have a plentiful budget next season"' when all the signs from the club say otherwise.
