Unbelievable

The first line of the guardians report on the game

Many among this ground's biggest crowd of the season probably came to admire Manchester United's gilded youngsters strutting their stuff.

yes of course that's why there were 27000 blades there.

We turned out to support our team. Something that some people can't understand.

:)

Agreed, drove me mad listening to the commentary on MUTV.

Sure I read in a thread, someone was going to email the FA/Youth League to tell them not to refer to MU as "United", even though it would've been pointless

Disgruntled missives fired off to the respective Blades at both media outlets :)

Charlie Webster at SSN and John Ashdown at the Guardian.

Let's hope for some balance!

Just seen this comment on Guardian site

Didn't see it, but the report on the MU site says it seemed to have been cleared by Maguire's hand - so it should have been a red card and penalty, but not a goal.

Bollocks, he kicked it out from not over the line.

I'm making friends on that comment thread right now :)

I've submitted my comment on the article. And I invite you to do the same.

:D
2in3? :)

I thought he handled it at the match......having watched it again he did head it but it either hits the bar or his hand after.....or both. It is difficult to tell but it never crossed the line.

He didn't kick it at all.

They kept calling them 'United' and us 'Sheffield' on Radio Five. I expressed my displeasure via twitter.

where is the sky board for the comments?

cheers SF, i thought he kicked it but was that quick i must have mis-seen it

Just seen it, he looks like he heads it up back onto the bar, not hand ball even though he had his hands flailing about

I saw the videos; shame to see even their own fans couldn't face the trip to the Lane to sit in awe of the Man Utd youngsters like all the good folk of little Sheffield.

To be fair they were very complimentary on how the team played.
Never a goal though, that furst 'un fo them.

I think the clue is in the name. MUTV.

How many times are we referred to as simply United on Radio Sheffield?

Fair point. But not often we play someone else called United, and RS isn't broadcast nationally or internationally.

Maybe not but MUTV is for subscribers only most of whom, if not all, will be MUFC fans. Their audience is by no means the neutral.

Aren't some of the comments selling us short. Sheffield United was formed in 1854. Its just football was beneath us for 35 years. :)

To be fair, it looks like the FA might have taken notice. Their report isn't ambiguous once.

I like how it's a decent write up for the first 2 goals then the rest of the game is written up in 2 sentences!

From where we were sat, looked a clear hand ball and the general opinion was that he was lucky to have a goal given.
