From North Korea talk because we get good crowds we are obviously fiddling even though we would pay more tax.

Is it wrong that i knew yesterday afternoon it was going to be another 19000 crowd?

The next home game will be too

And the home game after that, and the one after.....we do it to annoy the S6 ladyboys

I'm told by a very good source that included in our attendance figures are stewards, staff, cameramen... Basically anyone you can muster together.

Nevertheless, we still get fantastic crowds. It was only 15 years or so back that we would get 14-16k in the Championship.

Does your source live in Pitsmoor and say "I fink they like add the camera men and Stewards like and fings like that you know"

surely one day , some half intelligent investor will realise the potential here
19000 average in league 1
englands 5th biggest city 650k population , we could fill a 50000 seater stadium in the prem as a side as mildly successful as stoke or swansea have been

get too bloody busy in here though

I thought Sheffield was the third biggest city in England behind Birmingham and <spit> dirty Leeds.

  • Birmingham – 1,073,045
  • Leeds – 751,485
  • Sheffield – 552,698
  • Bradford – 522,452
  • Manchester – 503,127
  • Liverpool – 466,415
  • Bristol – 428,234
  • Newcastle – 280,177
  • Sunderland – 275,506

I see that only one of the Championship fixtures last night got more than were at the Lane (& that only by a few hundred).

How many did Leeds take to Bristol last night? I'd imagine they took a couple of thousand or something so we might have had the most home fans last night if that's the case. Also noticed that massive club Birmingham only got 15 odd thousand again......

Lol, even Barnsley got more.

Maybe the same site you found Sheffield as the 3rd largest city.

I agree the numbers are magnificent. A little more vocal support would not go amiss though, don't you think? We have far more than our fair share who sit in silence until it's time for a moan.

Agreed a lot more vocal support is needed, though the tide is turning. The atmosphere last night was better than last season, and the more confidence from both the team and fans will help.

It is like a library I blame the kop

I hope you're joking! Admittedly the atmosphere on the kop could be much better, but you could hear a mouse fart on the South or Family stand.

It's not true. It would not advantage the club in any way to overstate attendance figures...
Of course it's true. You know it makes sense to pay the extra tax by inflating the attendances. I can't understand why every club doesn't do it

I was sceptical at first for the reasons you've stated (surely it means extra tax / security).

In hindsight, im probably just being way too gullible (cue, "you are").

Hypothetically speaking though, if it were true, there is some logic to announcing inflated attendances- it can lead to better attendances down the line... by that I mean that if people get the impression that a major event is happening that is still well attended, then they in turn are more likely to want to be a part of that.

This is precisely one of the reasons why it's important to keep ticket prices low. Support garners support.
