Little bit disappointed with the near 8000 crowd at the Lane today. I completely understand that today's match was not that attractive - I myself didn't go to Bradford on Tuesday so I'm not condemning people - but some comments on P&G made me think about what United could do other than the £10/£5 pricing strategies used in the two games this week.

We have to remember that any pricing changes had to be agreed with OUFC and BCFC for these two games but I would like to have seen children let in free with adults today. I can't honestly see how it would have made much impact on the revenue of the clubs involved - what you would have lost on the kid's tickets, you probably would have made up with extra adults bringing the kids for free. I'd have personally made it more than one kid in for free too - buy an adult ticket for £10 (maybe £15) and bring up to four kids for free. Thoughts?

I don't think there's a lot more that they can do - other than re invent the cup somehow, or improve the offering on the pitch. Very few of my mates went, and they wouldn't have gone if it was free. More "can't be arsed" than "can't find a tenner". Sad but true.

I really enjoyed it today. Shame a few missed out.

Carling cup - not been to a game in years.
Tuesday - I couldn't make it (can't make many midweek games). Wouldn't have gone anyway
Today - couldn't be arsed.

I really don't have much interest in 1st round of the fa cup, or carling cup. Jpt Is just a joke cup.

I'll start going to fa cup from 3rd round.

I'd rather see the academy kids play and id be prepared to pay but I wouldn't watch jpt or fa cup 1st round for free

Think cba covers it. Just a symptom of the general sense of malaise atm. If you think about it, we've got roughly the same number of home fans in today as we did against Villa last year so I don't think the crowd is as bad as suggested and certainly will be in line with what the club will have been expecting.

It was only £3 for a kid, you can't moan at that

Did he enjoy it?

Couldn't go today due to building myself a new office. But to be fair I am so peed off with them at the moment I doubt I would have gone anyway. I have to work hard to earn a living and its about time that shower at the lane did the same, the bubble has burst.

I really enjoyed it, parked just outside the Sheldon (ex Pub) and enjoyed the space at the Lane. Took my 7 year old grandson to his first Blades match. I tried to remember how I felt at my first game Normally I stand at the back of the kop and love the atmosphere, today I was in the family stand and loved being in there. have to say if it hadn't been for the Oxford fans it would have been very quiet. Did seem odd listening to fans sing songs I haven't heard for years. Straight back to the car and home in double quick time.

Cup games demonstrate how important it is to flog your STs to keep league attendances up before we lose more fans for goood.

When people need to pay per game they have a choice to make every match and many choose not to go as the FA cup demonstrates ever more clearly every season.

Hence you get a bigger crowd at home to say Scunny than to Villa. Rather ironic that there's thousands of True Blades with STs who didn't go today given the various flak that flies around.

It's also why if we are near the top of the league we won't get al the ex ST holders coming back and paying per game.

At the possible risk of repeating myself....we really do need to get dynamic and innovative with ST prices and offers this season like some other clubs have done. It will be the norm within a few years anyway.

I'd also like to see the early rounds of the cups included in STs somehow at big discounts.

I think that would be a better option - if the ticket is included, more people might go. I guess the fact that both clubs have to agree to the pricing dictates that that isn't possible though.

I just think it was a shame that we couldn't give the kids tickets today. Like someone said, £3 isn't much but FREE is a word that could tempt people in. I don't have kids (not till January anyway :D) but I thought it would have been nice to have loads of kids at t'Lane today cheering the Blades on.

Agreed. FREE gets talked about and publicises itself. When you think how much they raise on kids, probably only a few grand, what's to lose ( a few grand :))?

My thoughts exactly. After having paid to watch such a dire 2nd half on Tuesday night there was no way I was paying again. And it wouldn't have mattered if we'd beat Bradford on penalties and the price on Saturday was £5. I still wouldn't have gone. That's the first home game I have missed, in all competions for around 6 years. If they can't be arsed then neither can I.

In addition to free / vastly discounted tickets for ST holders, I can never understand why they don't give out freebies or sell £1 tickets to the local schools etc, get a few bodies and potential fans in. Having said that, there would be cries of "why should I have to pay a fiver and those buggers............"

Did he enjoy it?[/QUOTE]

About a year too early I think. Sam to Helen 'What's the score?'
Helen 'We're winning two nil.'
Sam 'Well why are the baddies the only ones singing'
By the third goal he knew what to do when Tom Hark started playing :(

I took my lad (5) to his second game and he enjoyed it again. For the next round though they really need to do something or Torquay wont bring many. I think maybe bring the price down to £5 and kids a quid. BUT PLEASE DO NOT SHUT THE KOP again as there is no atmosphere without it

Hows about discounted final tickets for those who go to the early rounds? Wouldn't have cost us a penny for 75 years!

In all honesty I would give discounts/priorities for the "big" tie that comes along later in the competition (if one materialises) to those who turn up to early round games rather than ST holders/loyalty points.

Thats not a bad idea. Seem to remember for the Liverpool second leg you got preference if you had gone to an away game just before it rather than people with over so many points. I dont have that many but went to the Oxford game and will be going to the Torquay game so should I get some loyalty back if we are away for the 3rd round?

Just under 8k is not as bad as it first appears if you take into consideration the recent form, throwing away points in three consecutive Saturdays, losing to lower league opposition in mid week, etc.

Pigs drawn away in round 1 of FAC last year vs non-league Southport but for the second round at the Sty to Northampton they got 8,932
Pigs were 4th in the table after 18 games with 30 pts at that stage.

We have 29 pts after 17 games at moment

And I'd also hazard a guess (may be wrong) that Northampton took more to S6 than Oxford did to the lane on saturday - a fact which "they" always conveniently forget about when boasting about their MASSIVE gates!

In todays economic climate to get the highest gate of round 1 still means we can pull

I think AS HAS BEEN HIGHLIGHTED NORTHAMPTON BROUGHT NEARLY 1600 TO HILLSBORO

probably more than a 1000 more than Oxford

Not picking at you B2L, but does anyone really give a shit about comparing attendances..?

I don't know if I'm being thick here, but are you saying Oxford brought less than 600 on Saturday?

They nearly filled the bottom on the Lane end. Surely there were nearer 2600 than 600.
