That's quite a good line Sitters, fair play. McCabe and Birch, Blackwell and Alehouse have I admit knocked the stuffin out of me, so it has no impact on me whatsoever when I say (quite rightly and based on easily available numbers) Wendy's away support is utterly magnificent. Maybe I aint a real Blade in your no doubt ridiculous definition but not for me this ridiculous blindness to quality, loyal support when you see it. Same with Leeds at WHU today - brilliant support, and a great performance.

Top stuff Nudders.
who is your fav player lads curran or waddle ?

Oh darn I've been caught. Yep you've got me, I'm a Sheffield Wednesday fan.

I've just been going to Sheffield United matches and following them all over the country for the past decade because I get some sort of bizarre thrill from it.

Oh sorry. I must have been mistaken. I could have sworn you were a sad Pig, who lives in the shit-hole known as Barnsley, but clearly you are 100% Blade. UTB FTO

I've actually agreed with some of your comments about McCabe. But this pro-Pig drivel is pathetic. Really sad. You ought to be ashamed.

Why worry about some other teams support? if you support your own and love them with passion that should be enough.

Having met Mic, I can confirm that he is a Blade and his personna on here is somewhat inflated, he's actually a decent bloke. I can also see his point about Wednesday having excellent away support, they have a very good core following and its just not backed up at home.

By my reckoning we've had a memorable (imo anyway) term in Prem, then I believe finished top half CCC for 3 terms, including a 3rd place. Not that any of that is casue for celebration given the resources available - you could have managed the same. We've then got relegated in the 5th season so yes that is 2 relegations and a crushing disappointment at Wembley but how a sound bloke like you can compare that with what wendy fans have watched in the same timescale will forever remain beyond my comprehension - as such there are crwods and especially their away followings are ridiculously good.

You make out that they've spent the last 11 years in the conference north, oh they haven't hit the heights of success that we've had, but they've had a Play off success in league 2 and have been sitting comfortably in the Championship for a good while. For a little club they're punching above their weight ;) Seriously though, it was only last season when the reality of their demise finally hit home. So now that the wonderous Mandaric is in charge with Captain Megson alongside, they will again be believing their own hype.

Oh and if you talk to Wednesday fans, they are still playing in Europe, had the wonderous Lee Strapon taking them forward and are amongst the top 6 in the country.

Wendy fans in their late 30's know real success and know real misery. Younger ones know misery and failure. To get 21k against Rochdale is a magnificent achievement imo - couldn care less about cheap tickets - they have sustained our crowds for ages. I believe they averaged more than us when in 3rd tier and we were in 2nd a few years ago - will stand corrected.

Anyone would think I'm arguing that the world is flat. I'll say again for you Alco - Wendy's support given what they have had to watch in last 12 years is exceptional and deserves credit. IMO their away numbers are bigger than ours imo - again I aint some numopty making this up. I read things (not on wendy sites), read stats, see with my own eyes on TV - their away support is magnificent.

To be honest Alco you should be embarrassed that you seem totally unable to put owt in context or in relative terms.

I think "magnificent" is overstating it a bit.

If it's context and relativity you want - in the fourth division we got over 21,000 against Rochdale for a Tuesday evening game. And that was at a time when football attendances across the board were way down on what they are now, and after we'd suffered 3 relegations in 6 years (edit - make that 5 years). So if Wednesday's turnout was magnificent, there isn't a word big enough to describe our attendance that night!!

To be fair though, we had been unbeaten for 16 games prior to that game and we were virtually certain of promotion if we won it.

But we were still a division lower than they are now having had a truly dreadful 5 or 6 years, and it was an evening kick off at a time when football attendances generally were much, much lower than they are now. I would say all in all it was a somewhat greater achievemnt than getting over 21,000 against the same club in your first game of the season on the first weekend of the season having recently had all your debts cleared and making a 'new' beginning.

Our gate v walsall may at first glance look poor but last season Wendies
played walsall on a Tuesday night last oct when they were top and only pulled 15k, so we got what we could say was the norm ,well just above
