After the Fulham and Brum games I’m left feeling that a slightly different approach up top may help move to the next level (sez me the expert I know).

I think we sometimes lack imagination right up top, which means we sometimes struggle breaking down good defences.

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE Sharpe and Clarke but they are limited when it comes to unpicking a defence.

Brooks definitely has the potential to fill this role successfully but is still so raw and therefore his decision making is still in the works.

I’d look at signing a crafty, tricky forward in January. To play just off/behind Clarke (who’s undroppable at the moment).

I’m nitpicking though.

We’re so tremendously tremendous at the moment and it feels odd to have nowt to moan any.

Apologies. Sharp indeed.

Got carried away with the e’s.

Last time I did that I woke up in the back of a van on my way to party High Green with a bunch of complete strangers.

When Baldock comes back we instantly have an exceptionally more dynamic and talented right wing back, and revert back to our trusty back three with the addition of arguably our best centre half.

Being able to absolutely hammer teams down both flanks will be the difference. If Baldock or Freeman were fit this week I reckon we'd have picked up at least four points. Our wing play is everything.

If Basham was at centre half there's no way we'd have conceded five bastard goals on Tuesday.

Interesting timing for this post.

In the last week we have played 3 games, scored 8 goals in those games and our 2 chosen strikers have scored 7 of those goals.

Currently Clarke and Sharp are the most prolific strike partnership in the Championship with 21 goals before the end of November.

He's got numerous options when it isn't working including last night's 4321 with Brooks and Duffy of Clarke, and of course Donaldson, who offers another option.

FWIW, in Jan I think we need another CM option and some real pace from a PL starlet
