Were you singing? Top of your voice? Full 90 minutes?
Pathetic comments demeaning the support from a pathetic "fan".

Don't start slagging off the support because it wasn't a party atmosphere.
The atmosphere is there when we want it to be.
I have already said earlier on that as we get closer to the end of the season that atmosphere will ramp up as the more likely it looks at getting promoted. Who can blame people for not getting carried away when we have done so in the past only to have then suffered a fall. People are more wary as we have had too many occasions built ourselves up and it's a long way back down to earth when it went wrong.

Wrong wrong wrong and such a bad excuse, why not just admit the atmosphere at the ground is terrible? Why can people not admit this?

Why is it a bad excuse?
Don't see you coming up with one. And it isn't wrong by any means.

At least attempt to explain the Q atmosphere rather than a half arsed attempt at saying my explanation is wrong (which to be fair is going to better than anything you will come up with no doubt as it is logical!)

I also ask you the same question. Were you singing? Top of your voice? Full 90 minutes? Creating a party atmosphere around where you are sat during the match?

Every team says their fans are best in the land, why do you take issue with the odd unitedite saying the same?

Not seen it personally on here where people are crowing from the rooftops that we are the best fans in the history of the world.

However, in saying that, there is no way you can detract from the support that turns up week in, week out, in what is classed as one of our lowest periods in our history. Even after 5/6 years and numerous awful teams/managers/performances in this league, the support still turns up.
I cannot think of many clubs that would still be pulling in the support we do after the previous 5/6 years we have had.

Quite right on the remarkable numbers. Very impressive. Vocal support and encouragement? Pitiful, especially given the large numbers...

How's the weather down there in Denial?

Are you a total tool? No one is denying it's a quiet atmosphere. I certainly haven't - so stop reading into my posts and making something up that isn't there.

You still never answered my questions about your own "vocal" support at matches (do you even go?)

How's the weather over there in tosser land?

Come back when you can take part in a more constructive debate as opposed to answering everything as pretty much "it's the shit fans".

But any team in the country could say this. Even our last huge game - the Spurs cup semi final - was very very subdued until we equalised. There is probably a good atmosphere in that ground about once every 3 years on average. Is that something to be proud of?

So despite the fact we're top of the league for the first time in I don't know how long, regularly tonking teams 3 or 4-0, it's acceptable to only start supporting them when we're nailed on for promotion? We're currently 1/16 to go up fer feck sake.

I cannot understand why somebody would turn up to a match and not support the team because they're scared we're going to lose - every single match. Do not get that train of thought in the slightest. Do you think we're the only team in the country who has ever screwed up a promotion? Sorry mate but I just think it's such a flimsy excuse and keeps people from accepting the actual issues.

In my opinion we don't make any noise mainly because this total passiveness has set in at the ground (and grounds across the country) where it has now become the norm that you turn up, sit there for 90 minutes and don't sing or shout. Can people really say they always enjoy the match when it's like it is? I would implore you to take in a game in Germany, and compare the two matchday experiences. It's in another league to ours, and they don't seem to suffer from this nervous syndrome over there that prevents you from supporting the team. And once enough people accept that going to matches in the UK isn't actually that much fun anymore, maybe things will start to change!

Atmos is shocking. Valley Parade, Huddersfield, Barnsley all making more noise than us these days. Wimbledon fans chanting "We forgot that you were here" when we're 3-0 up. I could weep.

Maybe the Star could start a "Cheer Our Blades" campaign?

i still believe in a big fixture the noise levels will return. it's OK citing hudds and barnsley but they're both flying against their own fans odds. i've been to both their grounds in different circumstances and it being a morgue. they're no different to anyone else and their excitement levels are completely different than ours in L1 where all but ... in fact all fixtures hardly get the juices flowing. yes we're top. yes we're playing well. and despite the recent mini blip, the majority of us turning up are appreciating it. it's just we're not expressing it like we're on a european tour. i'd love it if we were, but we're not. and if we did, half of us would consider it tin pot. When Leeds, Forest, Barnsley, Muckrollers were down here they had the exact same pants atmosphere. this league, this era, just doesn't excite. I'm sure some fans will dream and pin all hopes on a a 'singing' section, but it would'nt work at the Lane, where any atmosphere is spontaneous and deserving of occasion.

in response to the comment of it being quiet v Spurs - you're right it was. But they did a number on us early on and shut the place up. V Forest and Charlton it was a different story. we were superb and bullied them. No two ways about it.

its this horrible league rod hardly any away fans think it will pick up when we get to the championship plus 6 years in this division but lots of our fans just dont seem to be 100 per cent behind team ie going early more interested in pies at half time and just sitting there like mannequins its unbelievable really when theres 20k in every game i was there against wimbledon in 83 i think when we had our lowest ever league crowd 7k and there was more noise that day than there is thesedays baffling

I would agree that our atmosphere isn't anything like what it can and should be. There are various reasons/excuses for this this.
However, there is one fundamental difference between the teams (possibly with the exception of Bradford) you mention and us. They are all punching well above they're weight. Enjoying the dizzy heights and moments while it lasts. Just like we were/ would be if we were in the premier league or up near the top of the championship. I can't comment on Bradford but they had a decent atmosphere against us but like we will show in the next couple of home games, if you can't get vociferous at a top of the table clash then when can you. If we do get promoted I would expect a far more boisterous atmosphere next season even if we were in the bottom half. It's all about expectations and we are currently well below ours and a little nervous with it. If the next two homes go according to plan I expect the tide to start turning. It doesn't seem right but when it comes to the league we've had 5 years of having the stuffing kicked out of us. 6 points might just give us that belief we finally need

totally agree about the Spurs home game personally but it can't have been that bad. The Spurs boss (I'm not going to try and spell his name) was raving about us afterwards

How many grounds are rocking for a full 90 minutes of every game? Football ground atmospheres amongst home supporters are pretty much the same up and down the country.
What will you do to try and change that?

Except for the Fleetwood game.....and Walsall.....and Gillingham......

I understand your point but no-one is saying it's acceptable to only start supporting the team at nailed on promotion. I certainly haven't so don't start twisting what I said.

Where was your vocal support at the last home match? Singing your heart out for 90 minutes? Did you do the same at Fleetwood maybe?

Sounds like that is levelled at me for making a reasoned, logical explanation as to why the atmosphere isn't "rocking" every game. That isn't my own view so don't start making it out as of it is.
And no. I don't think we are the only team thats fucked up a promotion etc etc just like I don't think we have the only set of fans in the country being described as quiet on here.

Disagree with the notion of people "turning up not making any noise because they're scared we are going to lose". People support in their own ways. Whilstever they give their money to the club that allows us to progress and do not boo a poor performance (those wankers we can do without!) then I don't understand the issue.
Personally love it when the ground is in full buzz. Creates an intimidating atmosphere.
Though I supose that could be the issue.....intimidation/intimidating atmosphere is seen as "dirty"/"wrong" this day and age. I'm not talking about gimps lobbing punches about but full on passionate vocal support. Too many people are quick to cry and moan because someone has just shouted at full voice "Fucking snap him" as an instruction against an oppo player or calls the linesman a "cunt". It appears to me that more people are seeming inclined to hold back these days because of this.

Why don't you start chanting/shouting for a full 90 minutes. Get them stirring sat around you rather than criticising my reasoned view as to why it is quiet.

Seen many quick to slag the support off on here but none so quick as to a) offer a better explanation than what I came up with (whether I personally agree with the reason people could potentially use or not) and b) offer some advice on how to kick start people into this mythical bouncing atmosphere we should have every game, which by your own admission only happens once every 3 years or so and seems systemic across the country.

There is one thing I know for sure, I am not one of those you are eager to describe (and indeed seemingly trying to label me as - so it reads at least - for making a suggestion as to why it's quiet). I certainly don't sit there quiet during a game.
Do you?

Wasn't aimed at you specifically; my point was that you and others have suggested it as a possible reason for 20,000 people being silent all match. And I think it's beyond ridiculous to say people aren't singing because they're scared we're going to lose.

Why is it so dead? Well my wider point, as mentioned, is that this is something that is now systemic in English football and happens at grounds all over the country. How do we fix it? Organised singing area, safe standing, letting people drink beer at their seats...I don't know. But it needs root and branch change rather than me or you singing on our own for 90 minutes.

Fair enough. But I don't believe that people are going to the match thinking or are scared that we are going to lose.
You ask anyone before a match and I don't think you'd get many people saying "gunna lose today". Having said that there is always one idiot doomongering.

Organised singing area would be good, IF we can get people in enough numbers to sing!

Totally agree with standing and drinking in view of the pitch.
Standing is a possibility that they keep talking about but the drinking unfortunately would require a decent law change which won't ever happen (the establishment viewed sporting underclass that are football fans can't be trusted apparently unlike fans at rugby, cricket and a number of other sports).
