Someone’s gonna get an absolute pasting from this Blades team.

Top of the league, 11 players out injured and unlike the 2006 10 wins from the first 11, this team hasn’t excelled itself whatsoever yet never mind skanked 3 points with a last minute winner. Even the Blackburn and reading games weren’t a result of everything we tried coming off, the opposition were just thoroughly steamrolled by a team in 3rd gear at times.

Enjoy the good times Blades, this is the best championship outfit I’ve seen us produce in 30 years of watching them

Agree with both the above…

When playing has we have been, We just need a few things to click together and we may well see our biggest championship win in history (not that I know what we have to beat?)… Regardless, there’s tons of goals in us when we hit that momentum.

Flip the coin and I also agree with BiggerBladeThanThou as well…. We’re not invincible and even yesterday we saw that we are not without error. It is inevitable that someone is going to do a job over us and it is massively important that we continue another skill that we have had under Hecky and bounce right back from it.

Also worth mentioning at some point we’ll lose too. Important we continue supporting and the players bounce back.

But agree, I feel a 5-0 coming sooner rather than later.
Very good point, we got dicked a few times under Bassett, but you never doubted the resilience. Big defeats at West Ham, Leeds and even Oxford but we always bounced back. It will be interesting to see how the current team and manager cope. Unfortunately, the fans will implode but that's modern day football for you.

I think it's a Hecky phrase (but could have been Wilder) not to get too high with the wins, and not to get too low with the defeats. In a 46 game season, we're going to lose some. It's about then following up with a win, and not stretching to 3, 4 or 5 games without a victory.

Luckily, there seems to be enough average sides in the Championship that even if we come unstuck for a match or two, we'll have the quality to turn things around.

When you consider that the overall attacking threat from midfield has improved - the absence of MGW notwithstanding - and our defensive capabilities are far greater with the addition of Ahmedhodžić, I can see several thrashings being handed out.

Even with last season's side, we handed heavy defeats to Fulham, Middlesbrough and Swansea, who were no mugs, and put 6 past Peterborough, the first time we'd scored 6 at home in the league since WBA in 2000.

So yeah, someone's gonna get fucked up.

I haven't seen "skanked" used like that for a long time! Excellent stuff.

The Reading and Blackburn results are about as dominant as we can be. Unless you are playing against a broken side or truly world class winning by 5/6/7+ is incredibly rare

Tbh me and a mate, who I can't name on here for legal reasons, were out drinking Saturday, we've had a few but still guarded ourselves the best we could, but we've both said this could be the best team we've seen in our lifetime..

A bold statement, but the style of play and the way we're taking chances, well, put it this way, it felt odd to be confident, but we are..

We're doing well, definitely some of the best football in years and years but absolutely the team, the fans, the owners and coaches mustn't ' pop the corks or drop the pills', along the way but we can enjoy it.

Not just a great side but great strength in depth no previous sides had such good strength in depth

People should keep calm and stop getting carried away, not easy I know, expectations can still be achieved without getting all billy big bolox about it. Not yet anyway.

If we are top of the league and 10 points clear after 40 games, then we can start going over the top about it.

All we've done so far is have a good start, nothing more than that

True however the weird thing is using logic we should get better throughout the season.

We still have loads of injuries with many due to return to strengthen the squad.
We've not benefited from much luck. Our XG shows that we are currently the best team in this league.
We've also started with probably the toughest set of fixtures playing mainly top half teams.
We have a few new players being introduced to the team who should improve.
Also we have a high quality subs bench and will see the benefit of that towards the end of a long season.

So I would say to ignore the first 7 games because they aren't showing how good this team is.
I'd say our team is better than it's current league position, which seems a weird thing to say when we're already top.

Nope
Top of the league and 10 points clear after 43 games, THEN we can start going over the top about it

I wouldn't get too carried away. This game and this club do have a habit of kicking us in the bollox

We've played 8 games. I'll have a good idea of how strong we are come Xmas, when we've played everyone. Norwich and Burnley only a point or two behind us. We are by no means unbeatable.

Like I say, best to leave the Billy big bollox speeches to those deluded fuckwits in South Barnsley

Sorry, but I don’t see this team as being so outstandingly good as some on here.
We are good and have depth, but the rest of the league except Norwich are not and may give us a false sense of invincibility.
Talk of being better when the injured return is illogical as they cannot all get into the match day team and inevitably others will be injured and/or suspended.
Let’s go with a good start and a good feeling and see where we are after the New Year.

There's something about the football and the start that worries me. It reminds me of the first few months under Spackman. I hope it turns out different of course.

Mention Spackman and it brings back memories of the Deane and Fjortoft sale.

There’s always the spectre looming of the 2023 January transfer window, let’s hope we don’t sell off our best players.
