Might be easier to play on than last Saturday now looking at it, as opposed to when I could barely stand up (shameless I played on the Lane post again!)

It was a right mess actually - I thought even end of season would be fine but was like a farmers field when you got close down (loads of grass on it) but uneven, muddy in bits, hard in bits and made my control look a lot worse than it normally is!

Did you give yourself a 6 or higher?🤣🤣🤣

Played on the pitch at the end of the season a few years back, also couldn't believe how bad the surface was. Was like running around on concrete in studs. They must just stop maintaining it after the last game until it is resurfaced.

The artificial sun machines and the water sprinklers that you need to use on a Desso cost an arm and a leg to run, I expect the instruction is as soon as you don’t need use them stop to save every penny we can.

Often wondered why pitches always got re-turfed each summer (do all clubs do it??) as it always looks in great nick at the lane. Figured some years jsut a bit of maintenance and 3 months of sun and rain would make sure its all fine. Our pitch does get played on a little more than in years gone by as U21's, 18's and womens team all seem to play quite a few matches at lane where as they used to play elsewhere in other years

About 8 years since i went on pitch before a L1 match and it was rock hard then, surprised me a little, but on the talk they explained that all professional pitches are like that as means ball goes faster and can play faster, which made sense.

It was looking a little tired in some places this year and next year there will be more games in the championship. Obviously still way above the standards of the not so distant past though!

Not relaying it, Prince sold it

All professional grounds are the same really (well the ones with decent pitches are at least). The way they’re constructed means everything drains out and they are rock hard. That’s why they absolutely soak them before each half - even when it’s pissing it down.

And don’t forget the women’s team play on it now since we couldn’t afford to rent Chesterfield so even more games.

Yes and the youth sides played a few games too.

I know McCabe built that "Olympic legacy" ground to house the women's sides. Perhaps if we get new owners getting sides in there is something we could look at. It's silly going to Chesterfield. Wasn't one game even played in Scunthorpe or something along those lines.

It’s a bit of a sad effort that ‘stadium’ at the Olympic Legacy park, if Sheffield FC and the Eagles can get their new stadium at the Transport Sports ground approved maybe we can do a deal there for the women team.. but I see the Nimbies are raising objections to that project.
