The artificial sun machines and the water sprinklers that you need to use on a Desso cost an arm and a leg to run, I expect the instruction is as soon as you don’t need use them stop to save every penny we can.
Sufc has its own water supply ,but the lights costs

Did I read somewhere that there's going to be 50 days of rain? Be like skeggy beach 😖😖

I've always thought the groundsmen over water it, also the keepers watrming in the same place each game does that area no good.Other Desso always looked better looked after than ours, Pigs excepted.

This is directly from John Garrett on the stadium tour. When asked why the pitch is watered so much.

The pitch is constantly lit, fed and cut, the water is just a delivery system for the food, we have a water tank (its in the brick structure under the Westfield corner) water is taken from the tank mixed with food and sprayed onto the pitch, it then drains back into the tank, we could water 24/7 and pitch would still not be over watered, perversely, when it rains the food is washed away so even more watering is required.

That's very educational, never knew it was a returning system .

Might be easier to play on than last Saturday now looking at it, as opposed to when I could barely stand up (shameless I played on the Lane post again!)

It was a right mess actually - I thought even end of season would be fine but was like a farmers field when you got close down (loads of grass on it) but uneven, muddy in bits, hard in bits and made my control look a lot worse than it normally is!
…a poor workman blames……

I played on the Millwall pitch a decade or so ago (in summer). Was rock hard and impossible. They just stopped watering it when the season finished - presumably that's a thing with ground care...?

I suppose if we were ripping the pitch up these are different circumstances though.

This is impressive. How to turn a city centre stadium into a year round usable venue . . . . if only

They dumped all the sand in the car park yesterday, I thought it was going to be a landing pad for PA flying carpet. 😁
