Which is why I still enjoy watching EFL on Quest, you are almost guaranteed a chuckle or two with Colin, especially when Hollaway was on the show. I couldn't imagine that interview would have flowed as well if McCarthy was conducting it .

It’s funny every time the pigs lose , I’m drawn to watching Quest, don’t have it on otherwise, strange that !

I thought this would be a laugh

Turned out to be another brilliant interview with an impressive guy - loved it......

ive only recently finished the episode 4 Ellery Hanley episode which unsurprisingly was brilliant, so ive still got ian holloway & David weir before i get to Wilder. but im not understating this. that i dont believe there is a better 1 on 1 sporting interview (or any topic) anywhere whether its on tv radio or podcast. than Colin Murray right now

every episode is gripping, interesting & personal. in a way you rarely get these days. for me Kriss akabusi episode is the best. you think on outside a guy who looks so happy but real him so vastly different away from persona he has on camera. i felt so sad for him. also the show of this is the tracy neville, i dont like netball & will probably never watch a netball game. but i didnt want it to end the way he manages to broach tough subjects like going through the berlin wall checkpoint or miscarriage & family member death they open up to him is incredible

Never knew he's lived in London as a kid and I didn't appreciate he has a healthy professional friendship and on going 'mentor'in Sir Alex Ferguson (I knew the Basset connection)

His 'healthy friendship with Sir Alex' may have come from his time at Oxford where CW had Jim Smith and Alan Hodgkinson working with him.

Jim Smith would have had a strong friendship with Sir Alex and Hodgy was goalkeeping coach at Scotland (and possibly Man Utd) for a number of years.

Looking back we should have had Hodgy at the Lane when he was seen as the best goalkeeping coach around.

Listened (watched) to a couple of other podcasts with CW recently, One of our own and In the managers office, all which had very similar content as far as stories from CW, but this one with Murray was by far the best one!

Jim Smith would have had a strong friendship with Sir Alex and Hodgy was goalkeeping coach at Scotland (and possibly Man Utd) for a number of years.

He was and SAF deferred to him on all matters goalkeeping, even after Hodgy was too old to chuck himself around on the training pitch.

Mrs ISC was at school with his daughter in the 70s and a friend of the family. We dropped in (he lived in Rugby) for a cuppa in the 90s and he was a lovely bloke.

I'm pretty sure that if Hodgy said CW was a good un, that would have been enough for old red nose.

Colin Murray is fantastic, he even did his research on Stocksbridge & Samuel Fox/the steelworks, only for Chris to turn round and say "Nah, never really been up there, I was literally just born there"!!

Yes, and I loved how CW made a point of saying that their factory was a matter of yards from Hillsborough
