As if it were needed, more evidence that Wilder is a class act

We needed to win our last 3 games to get 100 points last season and completed the task with a hard fought win against relegated Chesterfield.
Today, we needed to win for no other reason than that's what Chris Wilder is all about.
He's said it all along, he's a winner and wants to be the best.
Earlier in the season, I enjoyed hearing him say something like, "I don't want opposition managers telling me we played well when we've lost. I want us to win games"
Today, Wolves needed a draw at relegated Sunderland to get 100 points, but instead, capitulated to a 3-0 hammering. A small point maybe, but one that for me highlights the quality of our manager.

Last week, we needed a win against Preston to keep our Play Off hopes alive. We blew it. The game before that, we needed a win v Birmingham. We blew it. The game before that, we needed a win v Millwall. We blew it. Turns out that if we'd won those three we'd have been in the play offs. OK today we beat Bristol City today when the pressure was off, but I wish we'd performed to our best when it mattered.

Fair point, well made.

So...why didn't we turn up to pan the likes of Hull, Brum and Barnsley when we should have done?
The point was about CW having a determined, winning mentality.
I seem to remember him mentioning that he was non too pleased after the Hull City game for that very reason.
As I said, he's a winner.

Alright saying how annoyed after we lost, we really should have wasted these teams and he should take some of the blame if not most of it. I didn't pick any of the games against decent teams where we dropped points nor have I pointed out where an aberration (Fleetwood last year has occurred).

I understand your point 8lade and yes, it was frustrating to lose at Brum (who also beat Fulham and Cardiff at home) and there will always be games over a season that leave you wondering what's going wrong, but I still admire CW's attitude and consequently that of the players compared to those of Bristol City and Wolves today.
FWIW, I think the players lost belief in the last few games, but i have no fears going forwards that, as long as he's backed, he'll make the necessary changes to get that extra bit of quality in where it's needed.

Bet Wolves will be crying all the way to the Prem! Probably sack their manager and come in for Wilder!

Mmmmmmmmmm...........13 points from our last 10 games....... wendy got 20 points from their last 10 games. Does that highlight the quality of their manager?.....o_O

It’s over a season thing is we are well clear of the enemy

That's very true Lane Ender. However Greasy's comment was how we finished the season and of course my comment is also in the light of Wilder being odds on favourite to ferk orf to Sunderland.....Finishing 12 points above the porky ones is certainly not to be sniffed at......

The cowardly pigs picked up most of those points when there was nothing to play for. As for Nihui (spelling) offering him a new contract means they’ve learnt nothing from their mistakes.

Interesting thread, do we take the season as a whole, the 1st half, the 2nd half, where do we actually stand at this time ?

Yes. it's great that we played to the end as per the original post but everyone seems to agree that, yesterday apart, we seem to have run out of steam 5 or 6 games ago. Add to that the number of points we've thrown away late on and there has to be questions asked.

I still think 10th is about where we deserve to be this season and that's a great achievement. The strange thing is that it really has been a season of two halves results wise and on the face of it, we've not performed anywhere near as well 2nd half. Performances would suggest otherwise in a lot of cases but to play devil's advocate, Tufty and his staff will know that they too have to be accountable for the apparent decline in results since Xmas.

Overall, he stays, key players remain, 2 or 3 quality additions and I'm pretty confident we will kick on next season but...........................

He's certainly made a difference Mossy, and with the same squad.
My main point was to compare what Wolves did in their last game with 1 point needed to hit 100 after winning the title, whilst Wilder's next 'target' was 100 points and there was no let up.
Correct tactics or not, correct team selection/substitutions or not, board room wrangles or not that saw our points per game record dwindle, he has the mentality and attributes of an achiever with a relentless drive and that's what I like about him.

Isn't weird how football teams occasionally lose games? Madness

That’s well understood in Madrid, Munich and Manchester but It’s not allowed in S2. Someone has to pay every time. Visit a shoutbox near you any given Saturday for self-entitled tantrums and wildly jerking knees.

Also Greasy.... you have to take into account that I replied to your original post at 11.04pm yesterday and was pissed :)

The points per game dwindled from the moment our key player was injured by a reckless tackle from a cunt who has yet to express any sympathy whatsoever. I hope you get yours one day in League One, Marvin.

Correct venue or not, correct drink selection/chasers or not, bar room wrangles or not that saw your ability to be coherent dwindle, you have the mentality and attributes and a relentless drive to get smashed, and that's what I like about you ;)

Yeah but let’s be reight, with the £millions Wilder has had at his disposal losses just shouldn’t happen.
