McCabe bowed to fan pressure by getting rid of Blackwell. Yes he has made some bad decisions. But i would say our over critical, kneejerk reacting fans shoulder a large part of the blame for all this.

I thought I couldn't get any more angry with this situation so I am assuming this is a wind-up. We have been subjected to the worst management I have ever witnessed. From the appointment of that idiot Robson when every single footballing supporter in the country was slackjawed in disbelief throught to the selling of BT, Walker, Naughton etc and the sacking of a manager 3 games into the season it has been a case study in incompetence. "kneejerk reaction" ??? Do me a favour I think we have had the patience of Buddhist monks to have endured the chaotic, disgraceful, disintegration of this club over the last few years.

Signing Beattie was a bigger mistake than selling him.

Should not of sold him but had we not bought him I think we would of been in League 1 before now. The lack of replacement for Beattie was as big an error to appointing Robbo in the first place.

Signing Beattie was a bigger mistake than selling him.

I suppose that's a matter of opinion but once having bought him shipping him out again in January was another example of the malaise infecting this club. Piss poor decision making at all levels and an inability to learn from mistakes.

We couldn't afford him, for all his goals he didn't get us into the playoffs, and in a sense we're still paying for him now.

The fan pressure to sack Blackwell after the QPR game was immense. I had never heard fans vent such hatred of a manager, including Robson.

Yes, many of the performances under Blackwell were dire. But given his overall record, and the sales and injuries, he really didn't deserve such abuse from the fans, which led to McCabe bowing to pressure and sacking him. We'd be mid table if he was still in charge if not challenging for the play offs.

Adams has not had any luck but like Blackwell, his overall record shows that he is not a bad manager. He does not deserve the abuse any more than Blackwell did.

Disagree. If we'd kept hold of him we'd have gone up and not ended up in the play offs.

Agreed, Deano.
And if we'd seen that season out and flopped, I'd have been much happier about the slow dismantling of the squad since, too many echoes of 1997 there.

We couldn't afford him, for all his goals he didn't get us into the playoffs, and in a sense we're still paying for him now.

We aren't 'paying for him now' we are paying for clumsy, inept and staggeringly arrogant 'I know whats best' management decisions. He didn't get us into the play offs because he wasn't bleedin' well playing for us for half the season! If he was I believe we would have gone up and it would have been a different story. I do, however, take your point that Beattie was another cock-up and a misguided purchase which takes us back to the original point that we are an exemplar of how to right royally screw things up when ego overtakes intellect
