...I know, I know; it’s Tuftyball.

We ran a writing competition earlier this year and we have just published the winning entry, as per the below link.

It was tough to pick a winner. We had Kate Burlaga, Danny Hall and myself judging. There was some great entries, but this one nicked it. I would love to hear your thoughts on the piece; I’m sure its author, Oliver, would too.

Great article, always good to see the great Shred get a mention, but come on - it’s TUFTYBALL!!!

Great read and well done to "Ollie", from the heart and i'm sure his Uncle and grandad would be very proud of him.

Plenty of counjouring, invocation and summoning in a wonderfully written piece.

When you could have wandered into the territory of tactics and technicalities you chose instead to paint "Wilderball" as something captured in our hearts rather than eyes or minds. Perfectly apt in my mind too, capturing the essence of what being a Blade means, always heartfelt and with humility.

It evokes memories of my own Granddad, a regular season ticket holder and the influence upon my love of all things Red and White. ;) .He could never sit still in his armchair either.

Be interesting to read the other entries too.

What a fab time to be a Blade:)

What a beautifully written article. Rather captures what we all know in that United are a family. It's not about just the fans, just the players, just the manager or just the ground , it's a wonderful mixture of all of them. We fall out at times, like family do, but we know deep down that we will always be Blades.

People need to remember the spirit of that excellent piece. Next season when we lose 3 or 4 on the trot, the bedwetters will be out in force.

Loads of us on here know how shit our history has been and are just grateful for CW/AK for playing such addictive football and getting us back to the promised land.

Let's not let the johnny-come-latelys be the loudest voices next year, if things don't go well.

Thanks CW/AK for all you've done and it's been one hell of an enjoyable ride. If this is the high point then c'est la vie, but come what may, you have earned our support and loyalty to give it one hell of go.

Thanks for making me cry in the office 😭
My youngest son is now wondering why his stupid dad is sat with tears in his eyes on the sofa!

Brilliant article that actually transcends being a Blade but evokes what it means to be a football fan. Maybe it’s being a certain age and looking at it in a slightly romantic way but the bond that football brings across generations, races, religions and social backgrounds is pretty unique and while there’s a darker side that goes with the passion it is overall more good than ill. I just hope that football doesn’t continue to lose its unique identity and that future generations think in the same terms.

I read a book about baseball that said that whatever their differences in class, education etc. men (before I get pelters it was comparing how women interact and men) could gather together in the USA and talk about baseball. Football is that here in fact I’m a little lost at times when trying to interact with people at social gatherings and I can’t kick straight into footy chat.

More of that Steve loved it.

Loving the bedwetters handl e, sensible post as per .

Loving the bedwetters handle,

Copyright Noel Gallagher to describe Coldplay / Travis / Keane etc and not entirely fair IMHO, but it perfectly fits our 'new breed' of twatter warriors. Sadly it is not just confined to spotty young teens though.

I genuinely couldn't believe some of the absolute shit posted in the shoutbox on here after the Millwall draw. Posters who I thought I knew, posted shite about 'Wilder has to go' after a home DRAW FFS!

We are nothing like the Bassett team in playing style, but very similar in spirit and squad togetherness. The media despised us then, but the club was solid and fans stuck together. Sadly I don't think that will happen this time around. Some of our wanker fans will not give Chris the time he deserves and I confidently expect the first "he's taken us as far as he can", before August is out.

I know it makes me sound like a miserable old twat, but it's not all about age. We have plenty of young ultra loyal fans, but sadly we have far more lillywhite snowflakes who chuck their toys out at the slightest setback.
