Basham.

Immense tonight and has been for a while now.
Started in the middle and tackled and drove us forward.
Moved back to his most effective position and tackled and drove us forward.
Got to admit that I have not been his greatest fan but his form, determination, heart and desire is pivotal to our form.
Billy's goals will get him the player of the year award but Bash epitomises what we've lacked the last few years.

I will +1 this.

With an added apology for ever doubting his ability. I thought he was an athlete-in-a-football-kit type. Great engine but not a lot more. Couldn't be more wrong, even with retrospect looking back to Adkins days at least he still tried to make runs with the ball and never stopped.

Huge apology from me. File it with the Freeman and Coutts assessment.

Couldn't be happier to be a knownowt this season.

Basham has his critics, myself included a lot of the time.

There has been a lot of times where I haven't thought he has good enough, and was nothing more than an honest, but limited trier and not the sort of player who would be good enough for us if we was to go up, however I always felt he got a lot of grace and a bit of an easy ride when things didn't go well, primarily because when the players collectively hid and didn't put a shift in, Basham still went out there, never hid and still gave it his all to his own great credit.

He's really stepped up over the last few months...

Steady Eddie and proved me totally wrong . Deserves all the credit and accolades he gets .

Hope the bloke is good enough for the championship ,as he has been a credit to SUFC and himself.

Shows I know nowt about football . The bloke is consistent in his performances and ratings.

Another of Wilders unsung heroes .

He comes across well in interviews too, unlike the likes of Baxter, Adams and Clarke. You can tell he wants to be here and the shirt means something to him

If we get up, and say this in as complimentary way as possible, he'll be a great option to have on the bench. Very much the Football Manager type of utility player to cover a couple of positions should he be needed.

I think he's probably been our best player in 2017.

He's been incredibly consistent. In fact he's always been consistent - he's a great professional, and very solid physically and mentally. But now he's in such an ideal position at RCB in a good team his performances have gone up a notch.

Pretty much echoes my comments on the report I did for last night's game........

Basham 8/10 – Probably had the best 90 minutes out of all the players. I think he was easily our best player in the first half, constantly trying to get us going with some strong surging runs. Had to revert to centre-back after 20 minutes and was solid at the back and continued to make good runs. He’s got to be one of the first names on the teamsheet at the moment and I wouldn’t have had him in the first 11 before Christmas.

Since he came on at half time for EEL (forget the match...Wimbledon ?) for me, he's played his best, most consistent football since he's been at The Lane.

Was always 7/10 every week....did enough to keep his place since he arrived at the club.
When he lost his place he hadn't done anything wrong especially, but didn't see his arse and sulk, he got his head down and when the chance came he has raised his game and maintained it.

That's what competition for places does for a team. He might lack technical ability and composure, or maybe the quality in his final ball. But God he loves a tackle, and never stops running.

Do you think he will be a starter next season if we go up?.
OK, I'll say it!
Do you think has the ability to be a regular starter in The Championship?.

he deserves a chance to show if he can
saw Dan Burn the much chased player last season plying his trade at Wigan now
they have been struggling all season
shows he wasnt all that anyhow

It's a tough one. I don't think he's a good enough defender for the Championship, however I didn't think he was a good enough defender for League One before Christmas, so what do i know!

I really hope he proves me wrong - again, because he's got a great attitude and he's a model professional.
