To recall John Brayford to help tighten things up as a 3rd centre back option. He wouldn't be as dominant in the air but he's more composed on the ball than Basham and EEL, I'd say more agile too.
I'll admit I've not seen much of him play at Burton, but he's up against better strikers every week so he will dropping back down a level and now he's back fit he should do it comfortably as I think he's been playing centre half (or has had a few games there)
It doesn't look like we're actively pursuing anyone so do we have the answer to our leaky defence in one of our own players sitting a division higher? Is he even bothered about us any more? and with his big wages is he worth the extra cost if it means promotion at the end.

I agree Jake Wright needs to come back into the team. He's got quite a bit of pressure on him to perform when he inevitably does come back in as every blades fan has been calling for him.

Wasn't Brayford one of the players Wilder said we should be building around? He knew what his wages were back when he made those comments.

How much of a contribution are we making to his wages at Burton?

Would a recall cause Burton to make an offer to buy him?

His he defensively suitable and any better than What we have in this style of play?

How big a sulk would he have not playing for Clough?

Has he improved his positional play?

I'm not sure he would add much and may again would he cause further resentment from those who've grafted to get us so far?

Would his bird still be seen around the Lane?

These are key questions to answer.

Nigel Clough may be off to Forest. Brayford may not want to stay if he goes there.

Let's hope Clough does go to Forest because that's the only way we'll get decent money for Brayford when we sell him in the summer... or maybe it could even happen this month. In which case maybe we could even bring in another signing.

It's not rocket science...Wilder was tasked with getting the wage bill down and bringing new players in.
He took one look down the list and stopped at no.1: John Brayford...

EDIT: apologies to DronnieBlade for posting exactly the same as him...

is it that leaky
heres the table from 12 months ago after 28 games
http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-one/2015-2016/table/2016-02-02
nearly every club had let in more than our 34 in 30

top 4 after 28 had let in 34 41 48 and 40 respectively

I'm looking as far back as the last 4 games to suggest yes it is, and something needs altering.
Hopefully Jake Wright is the answer and I also think Carruthers will be a major player for us with his ability to win the ball back higher up the field taking pressure off the defence.

again teams lose games and occasionally let goals in , for no sensible reason

remember liverpool going for the title suddenly having a run of 4-4 draws completely at random after 6 clean sheets on the bounce

our goals against column is very run of the mill

Tufty just don't fancy him on the payroll. That seems pretty clear.

Highest paid player on the books, and Tufty has been tasked with reducing the wage roll.

Inevitability.

Wilder is a mans man . Brayford a bit of a wet lettuce . Don't think he is Wilders cup of tea. Would you have him in the trenches and all that .

Trouble at mill with Clarke just not fitting in and taking his bat and ball home . Is he on his way out .

Have we fucked it up and the bloke Clarke does not want to move , with being cosey , well paid , nice contract and comfortable.

Not sure what Clarke has got to do with the last 3 results, but hey if the cap fits.

Would you take your wife back if she robbed your eyes out and then had an affair?

I think Brayford would be great on the right side of the 3 CBs.
Based on Tuesday, I'd drop EEL.

Moore
Brayford Wright O'Connell
Freeman Coutts Fleck Lafferty
Duffy
Hanson Sharp

How much of a contribution are we making to his wages at Burton?

I seem to recall reading at the time that they were paying all his wages. His departure, along with other key changes, like getting Jake Wright into the starting line up and Simon Moore coming in, was a catalyst to getting our season going. I'd let him stay put personally.

His umbilical cord won't stretch to S2 from Burton. The bloke can't exist without Nigel. Top bloke though, sleeve tattoos, hipster beard and did you know he drives a real life mini? He's sooooo original and different.

Surely the benefit of bringing Brayford back would be to play him at RWB so we can play goal machine Freeman up top.

Being slightly more serious, I'd suggest that Freeman would do a better job at LWB than Lafferty, Hussey and Done.

1989 90
bassetts promotion to the top
after 28 games we had let in 46 goals

http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/division-two-old/1989-1990/table/1990-02-03

so 34 this season is far better

div 3 last promotion
http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/division-three-old/1988-1989/table/1989-02-25
44 conceded after 26

and warnocks promotion team had let in 39 after 30
http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2005-2006/table/2006-01-28
so why all the bleating over us letting in 34

all teams concede goals during a season
generally those at the top who concede less , score less
we are top scorers , but the trade off is conceding a few more

It's because we're not used to it so far this season and also, when you think you have a chance of success, all set-backs seem like catastrophes.
As Adrian Chiles said " Its the hope that kills you"

good job there wasnt social media then
letting in 10 goals in 6 games , shocking defending

strange seeing Everton in div 2
We also won 3-1 at S6 on New Years Day 1952 but Wendy finished the season as champions and we finished in 11th place

Is it better to get the double over Wendy in a season and not getting promotion or Wendy do the double over us but we get promotion?

Where are you getting your numbers from, none of them are right if you look at the links provided.

89/90 - 28 games in, 30 conceded
88/89 - 26 games, 32 conceded
05/06 - 30 games, 28 conceded
