Are we financially worse than Hull City & Portsmouth?

Started a game Lenners, and a sub appearence amongst 17 matches and 3 mins this season. Plus they are offering him out now on loan again. The facts are loud and clear enough of such silliness Len.

P.S. 14 players were involved in the first team on Saturday Lenners out of a matchday squad of 18 hardly most.

So you do actually believe there was an ulterior motive to Spurs recalling Walker and that when he played this was completely out of the blue and he hadn't been in the first team squad as a replacement for Hutton?
Totally bizarre logic.

So the facts are half the team which I think most folk would think is a large proportion.
But the more pertinent fact remains the number of people who've walked away and part of this is due to a big disconnection between fans and players that many no longer relate to or care about.

Rubbish. Fans don't give two hoots whether the team is made up of home grown lads or a bunch of foreign misfits, as long as it's winning, especially if it's entertaining too. Go and ask Chelsea fans if they pine for the days of Mark Stein and Gavin Peacock as opposed to Drogba and Anelka.

There are a number of reasons why attendances are down and they are down across football as a whole. The main reasons Uniteds attendances are down are 1. Blackwells style of play just didn't entertain and people got sick of spending money and not having a particularly enjoyable time, win or lose and 2. Things are pretty tough at the moment and people are thinking carefully about what they spend their money on. It has nothing to do with this "disconnection" you talk about.

Seriously, I am at a loss as to why it is so hard to believe that Spurs would want Walker for the first team squad when they'd just got rid of Alan Hutton.
Instead, there just has to be some other bizarre reason that could only possibly be fathomed by phoning up Harry Redknapp direct.
Very, very strange.

To be totally honest len, I was under the impression that he was recalled for first team duty (or back up for Corluka) at that time as well. But it has become obvious since that they never seriously considered him for the first team. His one appearance and subsequent subs bench appearances seems totally circumstantial to me and Tottenham's willingness to loan him out again highlights that.

I believe Hutton is now back at Spurs and if that is the case why is he not being loaned out again instead of young Kyle?

My opinion is that there is more than one reason for Kyle's loan being ended early and we will never know the full story. It was admittedly a convenience for Spurs to call him back as cover. Hutton wasnt getting games and wanted to go out on loan. Spurs knew they only had Corluka so had to do something.....so they thought lets call back the young lad. That does make sense. But the fact that they have refused to loan Kyle back to us up to this point shows something went off.

If they rate him that highly he would be playing now, not going out on loan to Portsmouth.

and you believe this recall was due to his impressive performances for us only not to be used?

Yet again Len you are going round in circles and not answering any of the questions.
I stand by my comment last season that Bartley (who you totally slated) will play consistently at a higher level and that Spurs will move both Naughton and Walker on for less than they paid.
You claimed that wasn't going to be the case and claimed unsound logic then too.

Play times over, enjoy your inevitable last word but I'm done going round the houses on Walker.

No, I think Spurs decisions to loan out Hutton and recall Walker were totally unconnected and that he was never going to be near Spurs first team squad because he'd played so poorly for us last season. He only appeared in that first team squad by clerical error.

Is it really possible that someone can be recalled from loan, not be seriously considered for the first team but then play for the first team?

I hope that clears it up for you JL in explaining if we are financially worse off.

Not just any old local lads were they?
The fans I know who've walked away are long term season ticket holders who very definitely feel disconnected from the club and did not relate to a constant churnover of players.
The sale of our best young players for donkeys years was very much part of that.

I don't know Len, you tell me. But it is possible for someone to be recalled urgently from being on loan, considered for the first team and then only play once for the rest of the season.

It happened to Kyle Walker last season for example. In case you didn't know.

Thank you. Case closed.

Look now all stop having a go at len.
He cannot keep up. I wanted him to answer my questions but he's ignoring me and its upsetting. So Bob do us a favour and skip back and answer for Len anyway and the challenge is to answer in the style of Len.

So how many fans are you talking about Len? 1? 2?

Len, you've used your "I think it so it must be true" logic for too long now to fool us.

Like Bob says, playtime is over so time to go.

I'm sure we'll get a clue as to how well off we are when the accounts come out Bob.
and I'm sure we when we look at them we will see that given our assets and current setup we are in a significant better position than them.
All the more impressive when you factor in that a lot of our assets are based in the property section which is still recovering.

I'm also sure that when they are released you will ignore the overall picture and just pick out the odd figure that you'd like to use to hit it over the head.

As someone else likes to post on here same owd.

Will we be having an open-topped bus parade around the city so that we may all applaud the books on their magnificent season?

I honestly dont see how the club had any choice. From all accounts we received close to £10M for the pair of them (cant remember the exact figure). Now for two (at the time) relatively unproven young players.....that is an extraordinary amount of money for a club in debt to turn down.....especially after just missing out on the PL gold mine.

At the risk of opening up another can of worms.....I would have been hard pressed to turn down that sort of money for them myself, despite my disappointment at seeing them leave. We're not and were not in a position to turn down that kind of offer for anyone.

The proof runs throughout the leagues. If you're not in the PL you're not going to keep your best players. The other option would have been to reject all bids.....let two young ambitious players get starry eyed and unsettled.....see their performances and valuation dip and in the end get feck all for them whilst we're still stuck in the Championship.

It is possible, Ipswich so I believe have turned down substantial bids for Wickham this summer.

We couldn't turn it down I agree, but that is because McCabe has tied us into his bleedin property mess and because his Valad deal has gone horribly wrong.

Whatever way we look at this, Walker was one of best young talents ever seen at our level. To sell him so soon into his career with us has no doubt for me massivle helped with this disconnection between club and fans which Len goes on about. All clubs have been affected by the recession in that fans are feeling less cash rich and fearful for jobs etc but only one club that I know of has 50% of the debt owed by property companies which file accounts late.
