That is not to say Walker is a bad player.....he's a very good player and one I rate highly. But he is young and prone to the occasional error as pointed out earlier. He is also clearly more about power and pace also and is certainly more direct in his approach then Calve.....I dont know how anyone could argue to the contrary but I suppose you could argue the toss about it if you wanted to.

As I said before, they are totally different players so any comparisons are probably irrelevant anyway. Speed doesnt have the luxury of that choice so probably doesnt think about it. That said, I'm sure he's very happy with Calve.

In all honesty I dont know why this thread was started because at the end of the day we sold the kid and Spurs clearly dont want to send him back here.....so why dont we just put it to bed and be happy with the very good right back we have.

They didnt recall him to be an integral part of their first team squad as they have a number of international full backs in their squad. We have no need to try and resign them as we do not have a pressing need for any more fullbacks and need to spend our cash in other areas. Its all about managing your resources as best you can on a budget. I guess its not rocket science really. It is reassuring to see that Wenger's assesment of a young player is still superior to Len's though.

You are the only one re-writing history Len. No one has said Walker wasn't a good player and a great prospect, what we are saying is that he didn't have faults which needed working on. So far Calve has played nearly as many games as Walker did in his first season and is looking as good. He is obviously older and hasn't come through our youth ranks, then again thankfully I can't see his club getting £5 Million upfront for him next after 4-5 games.

Walker and Naughton haven't established themselves at Spurs and at the moment are looking unlikely to yet you have Walker recalled as the next Spurs right back. Given current evidence that ain't the case. I think between them they have played for 3 mins this season and now they are available for loan.

I honestly dont see how the club had any choice. From all accounts we received close to £10M for the pair of them (cant remember the exact figure). Now for two (at the time) relatively unproven young players.....that is an extraordinary amount of money for a club in debt to turn down.....especially after just missing out on the PL gold mine.

At the risk of opening up another can of worms.....I would have been hard pressed to turn down that sort of money for them myself, despite my disappointment at seeing them leave. We're not and were not in a position to turn down that kind of offer for anyone.

The proof runs throughout the leagues. If you're not in the PL you're not going to keep your best players. The other option would have been to reject all bids.....let two young ambitious players get starry eyed and unsettled.....see their performances and valuation dip and in the end get feck all for them whilst we're still stuck in the Championship.

As far as I know Len, the FACTS are that we have 2 loanees - Calve and Nosworthy - and only Simonsen and Cresswell who started at Derby are over 30.

Can you therefore explain why you think the team United put out at Derby are "a bunch of loanees and old pros"?

This debate is becoming a little old now. Len can clearly argue that black is white so I would leave it.

Unless someone goes to speak to Harry Redknapp and gets the real reason then it always gives someone licence to form their own truth. The most baffling thing is that we're all arguing about a player we sold 14 months (or so) ago, who plays a position we dont need someone in and who we haven't been linked with. He played one game and I presume he was also on the bench for others as he was part of the first team squad.
Unless you believe he was plucked from nowhere, with no training with the first team squad, played one game and then sent back to the wilderness.

Started a game Lenners, and a sub appearence amongst 17 matches and 3 mins this season. Plus they are offering him out now on loan again. The facts are loud and clear enough of such silliness Len.

P.S. 14 players were involved in the first team on Saturday Lenners out of a matchday squad of 18 hardly most.

They recalled him as cover for another right back they signed from us who was deemed not good enough to play at that level. Walker isnt in their first team squad. I am sure in a few years he will be but that doesnt alter the fact that they did not recall him to play in their team or that we should have tried to resign him this season.
