The only way they make a return on their investment is to get us established in the prem. That is why this is so baffling, most of the sales thst have happened and even the ones that are being mooted seen to be good business but the lack of bodies coming in doesnt make sense. The only plausible thing I have read is roygbiv take that they are running things as a committee and since nobody has a deciding share nothing is getting done.

Didnt get promoted, chucked 100m at buying us, + Jan signings, selling of high value assets.

Are they cutting their losses and attempting to sell us and cut their losses. Would potentially explain the lack on spending?

CW is a football person and presided over a catalogue of expensive mistakes, is it any wonder they are nervous taking the next steps. It’s not a bad idea to clear the decks but there has to be adequate replacements incoming.
Chris gave us the best fan years of our lives but was utterly useless in the transfer market; that could eventually be his legacy…the last time we panicked in the market (beginning of last season) he signed McCallum and Shackleton ….football people eh

He did also sign Campbell, O'Hare, Burrows and Souttar (on loan).
Some of his signings don't work out, but quite a few do.

Whose bright idea was it to sell Anel without getting a replacement in. One of the AI players was sold to a Scottish club never got a game in the first team for us. So another waste of time. By all means, sign AI players, but let the manager and coaching staff see them play before signing them would be better wunt it.

I think it's obvious now that they simply didn't realise the size of the job.

Maybe they didn't really appreciate the job it took last year to make us competitive.

Whatever it is, to suggest that we're going to let parachute payment pass and settle in for some kind of longer term growth plan just seems negligent to me - right? Teams would fucking kill themselves for parachute payments.

I don't think we need to know the ins and outs of everything. Back in the day we weren't told much and didn't expect to be told much. Now everyone thinks they have a right to be told the ins and outs of everything.
However, I will concede that selling Anel and Vini without having any replacements lined up smacks of incompetence at best and negligence at worst. We now have a huge problem in defence. Without adequate replacements I think we will need to score at least two goals in every match just to get a draw.
