Are Duffys days numbered?

No not at all.

We know the score know at the lane. The best player will play regardless of anything. Duffy hasn’t been excellent so Dowell has to come in and do even better to number Duffys days.

There was a moment when someone (Clarke?) lifted the ball to him on the edge of the box and he tried to play a 1-2 with his back. That summed up Dowell for me.

He's a talented player with an eye for something different, and a decent addition to the squad. However he's also a bit of a luxury player, and still quite young. Good to have someone to bring on when Duffy tires, and may be an option to open things up in a tight game. 1-0 up and needing to close the game down he made me slightly nervous. Are Duffy's days numbered? Not for a long while yet.

Thought he was OK to day but did nothing spectacular. He seemed to tire as the game went on. Have to say though thought we did well QPR are no mugs. The reason I ask this question is when Dowell came on he looked class. I would start him next game.

I thought Duffy did OK I didn't say he had a bad game. I just thought that Dowell who I assume been brought in as back up for Duffy played a couple of superb balls in a brief cameo appearance. Of course I'm over the moon with the result and the fact we are second. Thank you for taking the trouble to give me your thoughts. Some rather more constructive than others.

Dowell played two superb balls I agree.

Duffy plays superb balls most of the time and gets on the ball, shields it, advances, turns players inside out, etc. He’s our most creative player imo.

OK I accept Duffy's days are not quite numbered yet. But I do now think we have good cover in Dowell. As I said he thing he did OK. Deadbat in his report saw it simlar to me. He gave Duffy 6.5 which I think is about right.

nothing against duffy I love the bloke & was my player of the year last season. at times in both of our seasons in the championship we have looked abit of a 1 man team because he can transform our attack when he comes off the bench or plays from the start. but duffys day are numbered unfortunately because next season he 34. & at some point he's going to drop off

At age 33 and based on the high tempo way we play, it is very unlikely that Duff can play 46 full games in a season. He will tire unless he is carefully managed. However in my view there will always be a place for him in the team subject to him coming off when he is tired or may be having the odd game totally rested. When he is not playing we need some one else to play his role. Didzy can to some extent and hopefully Dowell will grow into it.

Duffy was doubled up on today. Of the two teams in the Championship, where I know people, both see Duffy as our main threat. It's probably safe to say most others do too. The new lad has something though. Time to settle, then we'll see.

No. Definitely not. Along with Norwood, I think they can open a defence up in their own different ways. Duffy with his quick feet. ( Just wish he'd let fly once in a while) and Norwood with his range of passing first half to Sharp to McGoldrick. Thought Currie was Back.Definitely a good weapon in Wilders dressing room. Onwards and Upwards.

Being marked by two players would test even the most gifted of players. What it should do is create opportunities elsewhere. If two players are instructed to lessen the impact of a player like Duff surely that suggests an opportunity for another Blade to exploit?
