Fair enough, but you're splitting hairs. That wasn't your question.
But even clubs with the spending power of PSG are getting players running down their contracts.
We have just signed Burrows on a 4 year contract. This might be smart business, but if he's terrible then we're stuck with him for 4 years. Grbic is the same.
Even good solid pros like Baldock run their contracts down.
I think we got good/decent money for Berge and Ndiaye in the circumstances.

I should have phrased it, since the Prince has been sole Chairman.
The ownership was 50/50, but I think McCabe thought he had the casting vote, given he'd brought PA in, and was the former Chairman.I don't give a pass for that period to either owner. It's strange to omit it imo.
I think we did well out of Ramsdale and average out of Ndiaye. I can't really think of many others. I remember us blocking a derisory bid for O'Connell from Brighton but I think that was joint ownership too. The Murphy sale also happened then. About 2 million all told.
I think the fans are tolerant of losing Osula! Quite the opposite with Arblaster he is one of our own ( big blade) I don't think the Prince dare sell him at this stage in his career! It's all in front of him .Arblaster isn't going anywhere this summer and certainly not to the likes of Everton, Leicester or Ipswich. They can't afford him and he's on a nice long contract. The bit on the wrag is just utter nonsense and made up. I bet there are loads of clubs interested in him, the vast majority would be able to get close to the money we would want (it would be more than twice the figure they've just made up anyway).

Old Princey outsmarted him though, and turned out to be the Cuckoo in the nest.
My admiration for PA is waning fast, but he knows how to do a deal** I'll give him that. He's the only person I know who has scammed a Nigerian.

He may go in the future if he reaches the heights we hope for him and the club,it would revolve around wages and ambition if we couldn't match those.
Osula sale should open the door to some more excellent signings to add to what we have .( CW brought some useful ones so far )
Desperate for a goalkeeper and centre back.
At one of the press conferences at the time of the joint ownership, one of the comments was that we no longer have to sell our top academy talent or something like that
. It might have been McCabe that said that, I don't remember.

I doubt it will have been PA. He sees value everywhere. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on Storage Hunters or Flog it.At one of the press conferences at the time of the joint ownership, one of the comments was that we no longer have to sell our top academy talent or something like that

Could be available for around £12m. If he goes for that I'd be fuming. Surely that's just paper talk. We've already sold or about to sell to promising players. Unless we have to, players who are young shouldn't be sold unless it's crazy money.Daily mail seem to think sides are sniffing around him for 12 million (scroll down)

Newcastle United are in talks with Sheffield United over William Osula
Newcastle see potential in the Denmark U21 international and have proposed £10million with a further £5m in add ons. Negotiations are continuing with Osula keen to make the switch.www.dailymail.co.uk

Yep, would agree with all that. I'd be get to the stage of selling Arblaster (unless Man City come in for him with a huge transfer offer) then we really are at shit creek stage. I don't think we are anywhere near that. Without going into why we are where we are money wise atm (been done to death on here) the fact is we need money to allow CW to bring in much needed players. He's made a decision to sell one to finances numerous others coming in. Don't like us selling Osula but I can understand the decision. Selling Arblaster (unless for silly money) and I would be done with the club.
If Man City were interested or any other big club, they may not need to come in with a huge offer if OA has a release clause in his contract?
Meeting the figure is all that is required and whilst the figure may well be substantial, it may not reflect the players true worth?
When the big clubs dangle the Jazar the Prince takes notice.
Of course it's called good ownership, in the real world, you wouldn't want it any other way.
Almost every owner listens to bids and is willing to sell players when the bid is well above their value.
If we receive a 25 million bid for Arblaster....then expect us to sell, as long as we have other players lined that will improve the team.
It's called wheeling and dealing, all clubs do it and hopefully it turns out into being good business.
The only exception is Chansiri.
He's an owner that gets emotionally attached to some of their players and won't sell no matter what the bid is.

Incorrect he only buys absolute shit, so nobody else wants them. Seriously what large bids have they had for any players?
What are PA'S demands? The ownership was 50/50, but I think McCabe thought he had the casting vote, given he'd brought PA in, and was the former Chairman.

Ok, so basically he had one decent (not mega) offer which he rejected in 9 1/2 years that is not exactly being inundated with offers.About £7mil+ from Derby and Newcastle for Forestieri and with hindsight they should

Based on this i am happy to stick with my original comment of he has bought shit that nobody else wants!
Classy
AbsolutelyThey were both in the last year of their contracts, and were running them down (it's the modern way). I think we got the market price + on those two.
Marseille have made a loss on him.Absolutely
Out of interest how much have Everton (not yet ?!?!?) paid for N’Diaye?
How many years were left on his contract ?
Marseille also sold Sarr, Aubameyang and others. So they all lasted one season. A joke really, horrendous way to run a club, I feel sorry for Iliman.Marseille have made a loss on him.
