I'm not his biggest fan but he might be useful on the bench on Monday.

Does anyone else find it strange when we get an injury update from the Lane he is not mentioned of late ?

Its funny hes been left out of the squad with no announcement of an injury. Fall out????

He's been struggling with an injury.

medical staff at the lane are baffled that when sent for a scan and X-ray they are unable to find a spine in a single one of the team... Perhaps it's summat to do with that

Blackman had one.

Joking aside, we're a better team with him involved and he's certainly a better wide right option to Robson.

On Monday, I'd like

Long
Westlake/McMahon Collins Harry Hill (fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight)
Flynn Doyle (*spit*) McDonald McFadzean
Porter Murphy

That's the same team I'd go for Houso, it's much more balanced and I think Murphy would work well with Porter.

He could certainly take a penalty

And score from open play, and beat a man, and drive towards goal, with pace. And play up front, or make way and play on the wing. But yes, he did the thing Beattie was celebrated for, too. Another critical skill we could have done with, agreed.

I wonder if he could accept when he was wrong?

:)

You make him sound like a cracking player.

Sorry to say but in the times that I saw him play, he wasn't the all round player that you talk about. He looked decent at times and he was certainly one of the better players in the side.

But as i said before, he was a bit of a square peg in a round hole. Seemed to be unable to play alongside anyone up front, but looked better on the wing.

If we're going to put the seasons failure down to losing one player, i'd be more inclined to say Miller was that man.

But I can only speak about what i've seen and i've not seen us since New Year. That said, Kitson for example has bagged a fair few goals, all from open play weren't they?

It's amazing how many players suddenly become much better than they were in the eyes of fans when they leave.

Didn't Miller get injured (honestly can't remember now) before we sold Blackman? Makes it even more inexcusable to me.

Kitson's done OK too. I'm not sure of the relevance though?

In short, it's just a cast iron fact that we are slow, and goal shy. We sold our pacey top scorer at Christmas. The only thing more inexplicable than McCabe's decision was the reasoning of the fans who clapped as his did it.

It's all about opinion, I know. It's just that some are daft...:)

Is it only this entire forum that want Murphy upfront? Wilson and Morgan clearly don't. He'd bag goals I'm sure

Is it lack of options on the wing that means he doesn't want to switch Murphy? I'd be interested to see it too, if only for a few spells.

It's amazing how often this line gets trotted out. He was our top scorer, many of us said selling him was a mistake at the time and indeed we have struggled mightily going forward since.

I don't disagree with you, I just think his ability is getting massively over-hyped. He was decent but nowhere near as good as is being made out. The main reason he stood out is because the rest of them are shit, not because he's that good.

We don't miss the player, we miss a player like him.

I don't think anyone is unrealistic about his strengths and weaknesses, but being better and offering something different to everything else you've got are highly desirable attributes.

Goals win games. We can't score. No hindsight is needed to see it was a ridiculous sale before and after is happened.
