Fnar fnar.

I'm Blade through and through but on these occasions fear the worst and anything better it's double the delight, over two legs I'm double pessimistic, if we win I'll be double delighted.

I have Clough Cup Confidence.

3-2 to us on aggregate.

Two tight legs. Lose 2-0 away, win 2-1 at home......remember, always the Bridesmaids!

Yes, but the final also needs a bridesmaid.

We'll squeak past Spurs on penalties, then lose 5-1 in the final to Chelsea.

Beat Liverpool in the final...Gerard concedes a pen in last minute. Now that is dreaming.

You mean Gerard concedes a pen in the last minute which astonishingly results in the referee awarding a penalty to Liverpool as he got all confused when his Liverpool shirt blew in his face in the wind. Gerard then takes the penalty which he strikes so hard that, after hitting the bar, the ball flies down the other end of the pitch and over Simon Mignolet's head and bounces down off the cross bar. Chris Porter, on as a late substitute, buries the rebound only to be flagged offside leaving the game to finish 0-0. The Blades go on to win on penalties.

Simonsen coming on just before the end of extra time, turning to Higdon he simply says "Higgo, I've got this son"

I was with you till that last bit.

I just can't see it.

Think we will be out of the tie after the first leg.

We can't afford to lose by more than a 2goal deficit. If we score at WHL that would really help.

That we'll go on and beat spurs... the odds are against us but i think we could actually do it...

One can dream eyh
When I read the title, I assumed that this thread would be transfer related and the first line of the that would be that were not going to sign anyone in the JTW

I think we'll give them a game, but can't see us progressing over two legs. Glad we're away first however, unlike when we played Liverpool in the Semi under Warnock

Also got the reason for Stevie G's penalty wrong. Nothing to do with his shirt blowing in his face. The ref. thought a United player was going to foul him, so gave a pen.

"The ref saw Chris Morgan on the touchline so gave Liverpool a penalty whilst play was in the Liverpool penalty area." Got it!

I have had a feeling that it will be a Blades V Liverpool final for a while now. I have been known to get it wrong though!

Its interesting talking to the Spurs fans at work, they veer between a complete drubbing and we're Spurs and we always mess it up. As has been said the first leg is so important, if it is still tight after that anything could happen at a night match at the real Lane.

P.S Welton are you driving a silver Merc those days, and did you get all giddy when we beat Southampton and drape a blades scarf across your back window!!

Don't want to sound a pain in the arse, but even getting to the final , or even winning the cup , would not mask the biggest disappointment of not getting promotion. The cup runs are great , but are a nice to have . The bread and butter stuff is getting out of shit league 1.

Mr Clough and the players concentration and aim has to be the league.

I could not disagree more. Flags fly forever. I would take a cup over promotion every time.

United have been promoted 5 times in my lifetime. They have never reached a major final or won a cup. I want to see them do that.

In 30 to 40 years time, not many Blades would remember much about promotion from league 1. They would all remember winning a cup.

Agreed; a Cup is name in the history books forever. Promotion from Div 3 isn't, really.

Pound to a penny , I bet that is not the thinking of Mr Clough or the board. RS should ask next time they interview they do a interview.

Being positive , let's hope we achieve both .

I don't care what they think, though you might be right.

spurs are what i term a 'weak mind' team.. always have been in my lifetime.. when they turn up they can beat anybody.. but when they don't they can lose to anybody.. will they do it twice though?
bradford did it.. why not??

The other thing to take into account , and Spurs are beatable , is that we automatically qualify for the Europa League , if we reach the final.

Again me just wanting promotion above anything else , the cup runs will hold us in good stead for the play offs , and this year not being the bridesmaids.

We all know that if we get promotion this year , we are more than capable of holding our own in the championship. Also it is a great springboard to hold on to our young good players. As always we have a double edged sword .

No we don't. Only the League Cup winners get into the EL (and the rulke always used to be that was only if they were a top division team).

No, we have to win it. IF Chelsea get to the final and win it and then qualify for the Champions League, the Europa place goes to the next qualifying in the PL, not the League Cup runners-up.
