hope badger hemsley flynn colquhoun hockey woodward salmons dearden currie reece.. sub.. cammack?
My memory is not good enough to give you 100% approval. I know someone who could... I wouldn't have put Salmons and Reece in the same team, and I suspect Flynn played more games than I remember (he was the sort of player you didn't notice). The rest I could come up with after some thought - but I definitely couldn't recite it.
[Edit]
And sure enough, Silent has replied while I was writing this...

Flynn played only 9 games in the 1970-71 season. He was the reserve to Dave Powell's position until Dave had that injury at QPR

What match?
Life was much kinder when they basically played the same eleven for several years. Now on the old photos thread people put up pictures of someone who played 2 games for us on loan about 3 years ago, and I'll swear I've never seen or heard of them. I only believe it's right when Silent Blade confirms it. And that's depressing, because it confirms my memory is going.

I'm a few years younger than you but it never ceases to amaze me how people remember insignificant incidents from years ago and I probably can't remember the score from half the games I've been to this season, let alone anything that happened in most of the games.

And those matches that they show on the screen before home games - you know you saw the match v Preston in 2003 (I made that up as an example), but as they show the goals you have no idea what the final score was, which makes it more exciting, but is worrying because you have no memory of it. Occasionally I'm glad when my son tells me I was away on holiday for a particular match. But matches from the late 50s or early 60s are pretty clear in the memory - and if I was making it all up, I am sure Silent Blade would (very gently) correct me...

I hadn't thought about it beyond the United team of my youth. I suppose in earlier eras this will have been quite common, amongst most clubs. Indeed, it must have been almost possible to do it with the reserve team! As I only started in 1953, I could have got there with that forward line, but only after working it out. Does the defence and the midfield behind that forward line also trip off your tongue automatically? Burgin, Furniss, the 2 Shaws (?), Latham (?), Hoyland(?)... I can't do it.
Burgin
Furniss Cox
Hitchen Latham Shaw

OR

Hodgkinson
Coldwell Shaw G
Richardson Shaw J Summers

OR

Hodgkinson
Coldwell Shaw G
Hoyland Shaw J Iley
The latter sold to Newcastle.

I don't think I ever saw Hitchen, and I only remember Latham as the old-style trainer coming on with bucket and sponge. My most vivid memory of Iley is not a good one - my first away match at Notts County, age 9, winter 1957. We drew 2-2, Iley missed 2 penalties. It snowed heavily, and we had to walk home from the Midland Station. It's a wonder I ever wanted to carry on. I always remember a County supporter at half-time laughing at us because our 'other team' (S6) were losing; even aged 9, that seemed bizarre. All very educational.

Summers was Gillingham manger when I came to Kent in 1977 with Hodgkinson as his assistant..
One of the earlier names on my guest list when opening new branch and both came.
Pity my involvement at Gillingham started after they left.

I had forgotten that Summers and Hodgy had worked together. They were both doing some sort of coaching badge together around 1964(?), as they came to school several times together to do training sessions with the school team. One of the best times of my life to get one-on-one coaching sessions with Hodgy; mind you, if the assessors had come and assessed my goalkeeping skills, they would never have awarded him his badges.

Anyone remember getting The Football League review supplement with your match programme

In other news, Fatty Foulkes has been to weight watchers and lost ten stone and Billy Gillespie has had a hair transplant and now looks remarkably like Wayne Rooney ..........
