I still think Gary Hamson's record will never be beaten. 100 league starts as a teenager.
How many games did Curis Woodhouse play for us in his teens? Cant have been too far off 100 as know made his debut at 17 and seemed to be a regular after that for a fair few seasons under Bruce/Heath/Warnock.

Born April 17th 1980. Dont know how many of the below were sub appearances. Looks like around 70 starts

Just worked out. 65 league starts plus 10 sub apps

Anyone else getting a Ironside feeling about Hackford? Poor lad is being made into the only shiny part of a shit pile of a season.

Ironside, Ironside...Ironside, Ironside.

Pop the lad back in the positive U23's and let him escape the poisoned first team picture.

Whitehead? You mean Whiteman?
Another who could and should have been developed along with the 1st team instead of the numerous loanees who couldn't improve on Basham and now we are left with a 38 at the end of his career and another who can't get on the bench. I think having a settled side has been good to progress to the prem but left us with no one to ultimately take over unless they cost millions from the championship.
Giving our own time on the pitch to develop in a positive team environment sees us trying to bring them in now where we can't buy a win or rely on the likes of Stevens, Fleck, Norwood etc

I love watching the academy sides on a weekend, I don't watch any specific side just have a walk about and so watch many players over the years and if someone catches my eye I like to watch their progress over the years. We have many youngsters that I can see making a breakthrough over the next 5 years or so.

But the next superstar from the Shirecliffe conveyor belt is Antwoine Hackford, a 14 year old striker. Plays for the U15s what a player this boy is and I am going to go on record and say this lad will make his first team appearance aged 16, become our youngest ever player and our youngest ever goal scorer. That is some statement but he is some player.
First team appearance aged 16. Correct.
Youngest ever player. Not quite (Louis Reed) but youngest in the Premier League.
Youngest ever goalscorer. He's 18 now (Stainrod and Jebbo scored in the top tier aged 17).

Can’t have been easy for him especially when you consider what his peers have achieved in that time. Ndiaye cemented as one of the first teams best players. Jebbison had a successful loan spell in league one and had age group recognition. Osula having a great league one loan spell with Derby and gets age group recognition. Lankshear gets a big move to Spurs. Arblaster getting first team minutes and age group recognition. Players like Brooks and Sachdev getting first team bench spots. It will have taken a shed load of mental strength to watch peers and friends having great success whilst all he could do was rehab. Hopefully he has a period where he stays fit and can start building his own career.

It could well have done so. however, watching his peers having some success might make him think "I'm just as good as these lads, if I can only get fit . . ." and spur him on to get back.
Either way, it's great if he can pick it up from here.

Hopefully he has done like you say and directed it somewhere really positive. Having listened to players like Brewster and Bogle talk about their mental struggles and frustration with injury rehab I’m sure he’ll have had some tough moments especially seeing as those lads are already established pros and he’s just starting out.

Hopefully he did some of his rehab with the senior lads and probably more so than anyone else someone like Brewster will have been able to empathise as he went through something very similar at the same age.

Also he has age on his side, I'm sure he was only 16/17 when he made his debut in the premier league.

He's only 18. Lots of time to make a mark. The fact he had a debut so early speaks volumes. He's got a few years on the lads who have broken through. More Arblaster vintage
If he can now progress over the next 18 months on the promise he showed as a 16 year old I stand by my OP, the lad will be a superstar.

We all hope good players come though the system ,shame the lad has had a acl at such a young age .good luck to the lad in his comeback .utb
