It has to be the Shelvey goal for me. As I recall it followed one or two dodgy decisions in games just prior to that which had me primed! The difference between that and a few others is that there was no need for an action replay to know that it was wrong and against the spirit of the game. The flag went up, all the players stopped, including Shelvey very briefly who then half heartedly continued his run and with very little conviction stuck it in the net. I know they always said play to the whistle but I think once a flag is raised most players assume the game will stop (wrongly as it happens).

The other time the anger built up was Bury away in Feb 2016. Drove there and as usual had a good idea where to go and park. The M62 was very slow moving and I thought I would miss kick off if I stayed on the motorway so I took the Rochdale turn off. It was dark and raining heavily and approaching Bury from a different direction meant that I didn't have a clue where I was going to park. The game itself was shocking, amongst the worst performances we had on that era and after the game I thought the whole effort of getting there had been a complete waste of time

The keeper was the nearest player to the ball and favourite to clear the ball so even if you are right which you are not how is it a clear scoring opportunity ?I if you do not mind I would rather take a FIFA refs explanation to what should have happened rather than yours

In all our visits to PL the one that still grates is the Gerrard penalty 1st game 2006, ref had cheek to come on TV and said I gave the foul on Stevie as there was intent by the Sheffield defender no attempt to learn Morgan's name.

Play to the whistle is what they say to five year olds who are playing without proper officials and technology

How many times have you seen a striker breaking through, he's got the better of the defender when suddenly the flag goes up. The defender then stops and applauds the linesman.
If that flag goes up and stops play it's offside, even if it isn't.

It's hard to complain about the rules of the game being followed. Well it is to me anyway. I actually prefer referees that do that.

In hindsight the Newcastle one was the correct decision, it would have still be annoying but I could get over that.

The thing that boiled my piss about that game was the ref was a complete cock end that night. On every previous occasion the linesman flagged, he blew up straight away, regardless of how close it was it was just on that one occasion he decided he’d let play go on. It was his lack of competence and inconsistency that caused that situation. I know VAR had been wank all season to that point but that was the first incident where I realised that the officials genuinely did not understand how to implement it correctly. They didn’t have a clue.

Off the back of the controversial red card on Monday, on a scale of 0 to Apoplectic, what's the most angry you've been during our tenure in the Premier League?

The Spurs away clown feet offside had me shouting, ranting and yelling, but the winner for me is Newcastle at home. The Shelvey goal, complete with flagging linesman, players pausing and disbelief wins for me...it was the ex referee trying to justifying it on TV that pushed me over the edge and had me yelling at the screen.

Agree! That’s the point at which I dove through the TV screen, burst through the adjoining wall and ended up in my neighbours front room. I gave the old lady next door a sound thrashing. She was watching catch-ups of Love Island at the time.

I feel bad about it now, but at the time it felt justified.

No harm done. As she said afterwards, in the recovery suite, “We’re all Blades aren’t we?”.
