Anel

Seriously guys, if the officials see that elbow and see it well enough to know it's deliberate, then it's a red. However, extremely difficult in real time. I'm watching on TV and I don't see it until the replay.

but come off it, slightly squeezing the back of someone's neck is hardly a red card in any day and age.

The ref was perfectly positioned to see Anel's reaction. He's seen it and that's his conclusion.

The retaliation situation happened three times in the match btw: two for Cov, once for United. The difference was our players were pushed in the chest. If Anel pushes him in the chest he doesn't even get booked is the obvious conclusion. The ref could and should've booked half a dozen Cov players for the reaction to the incident btw. That's the letter of the law too. The reaction from the Coventry team was extreme and against the rules

Their kid should've at least been booked before the incident of course. As the game went on the ref then started to punish diving. Funny that. They were wise to bring him off after 58 minutes despite him being a threat.

Hamer is getting elbows to the face and no reds are being given.

“Dark arts” = cheating. Hopefully he will get his comeuppance soon.
Players like him would end up in plaster back in day - I absolutely hate this aspect of modern football. There is absolutely no sanction applied no matter how often they fall around holding their faces but push ‘em over and you’re off 😡

But a push is?

Had we taken someone else off other than Campbell, we would have still had that attacking outlet but even that could have left us exposed and cost us all 3 points.

End of the day, we got a point, move on to the next game, Oxford at the lane?
Campbell was injured.

I’ve just been told off by Mrs Balham for suggesting that I’d quite like Bassette to get a lengthy injury after seeing his pathetic reaction.

Ahmedhodzic, however, shouldn’t have reacted. Easier said than done I suppose.

Same here. I’ve not wished a lengthy injury on a player since Tarrico, but this cunt can happily have one.

There is no elbow its his lower arm wrist as he goes over him and its more his middle to upper back than neck -Anal was pathetic in how he responded completely deserved it he got him on the throat and slightly pushed him enough but there was enough force s Bassettes falling holding his head and what came after from him was pure shit housing

Having taken 3hrs 45 to get there I was furious when he got sent off. But seeing the lead up to it they should have both gone. It was a stupid reaction wharever the provocation

That guy should be banned, rolling around holding his face when it was clearly never touched is not football, it's just cheating so hope he and his family are all proud of him for not being able to compete on a level playing field and spoiling the game.

the problem grey is that the modern game is riddled with cheats play acting to get opponents yellow and red cards its pathetic and happens every weekend its high time the powers that be addressed this problem

Diving and play acting was the one thing VAR could have cut out - but didn't. The higher up the league, the worse the cheating gets

Did he cost us the game today? Debatable but personally I don't think today's result was all on him. Was too much space for the man on their second goal.

Should Bassette have been sent off as well, yes as he does put his hand on Anel's neck first, which must have been missed by the ref.

They were still making chances and getting through our defence before the red card, having 10 men just made it a little bit easier, especially as we lost our attacking outlet by taking Campbell off for Robbo.

Of course Anel cost us 2 points , we never got in their half after he went off - completely distorted the game and played into CW's preference to try and defend a one goal lead for 45 mins.

We were winning and scoring every time we got in their box - we might have conceded again but we'd have scored again

But they don't really want to , they fear the backlash in the media when someone gets yellowed for simulation and later it's shown to not be the case
At least the ref today did actually give a card to one of theirs for diving , which is a rare thing

Having just seen the incident I think a penalty would have been harsh - as was the booking. To punish cheating it would have to be retrospective in my opinion - Bassette shouldn't get away with his antics today - especially the wink

At least while he’s suspended he can’t get any closer to 10 yellow cards for the season. Every cloud and all that.

Point is, the rules address this type of behaviour but never get applied. He was clearly giving it large to Anel - from the laws handbook
  • is guilty of dissent, using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or action(s) or other verbal offences
That said, players f & blind to referees but don’t get booked. It has been an issue for football for ages. I can’t think of another sport that tolerates it.

Watching it again, he got played and took the bait. The ref had no option but a red.
Hopefully he will learn from it.

I imagine Anel’s waking up this morning regretting his reaction yesterday.
I also imagine that little smug-faced, ratty cunt is waking up feeling rather pleased with himself.

I can understand Anel WANTED to throttle the little wanker, after 2 late challenges, one of which finished with a forearm smash, the other with a word & a little dig. Never mind all the chucking himself about.
Anel’s got to be smarter though. Laugh at the little twat, rev him up even more, let him play his games so he concentrates more on that than playing football.

2 reputations were affected yesterday.
Other teams will provoke Anel to see if they get a similar response.
Rat-boy’s game is now clear & I hope he’ll meet someone soon who puts a stop to it. He’s the worst sort of footballer to me. Dishes it out, can’t take any, cheats. What a wanker.

Take it alot have never heard of 'heat of the moment'

Silly yes but reacted like alot would unfortunately
well, in that case he's useless then. Can't be trusted to play football for us because this is only going to keep happening. Especially now people know he lacks composure.

how long as he been playing for us 3 seasons this is the first time he has reacted like this
Let us not over react ourselves

Agreed. The point I'm trying to make is that it isn't just "one of those things lots of people would do". He's a professional footballer so needs to handle himself better. Not lose his cool. He strops a fair bit, but if that's going to start translating into red cards and not just stupid yellow ones then he's career is limited. Let's hope he learns from this.

It feels as if CW behaviour post derby day made us think we could dish it out on the pitch too, but this prick bit back whereas behind pub doors is easy. We have been exposed and it cost us two points, let’s not forget it again!!
