Since its a bit quiet re United signings I noticed Alan Biggs interview with Andy Daykin. Has anyone else listened to it? Interesting listen and I've only listened to the first part so far. Always thought he was a Blade but clearly not based on his interview, have to say a little bit disappointed with that, but at least his kids are Blades! I always thought how can you work for them, but I do understand its a job. Anyway I still respect him for what he did for us. I always remember him saying welcome to the Mecca of football Bramall Lane on the "United" TV series! Here's the two parts of the interview.

Andy Daykin is a Blade but probably has to temper his support given his current employer. Probably in a similar position to what Derek Dooley was in his early years at BDTBL but he'll never make the switch permanent. While "Once a Blade" is true and there are plenty that have transitioned from the dark side, it's impossible to make the switch in the other direction:)

Once met him in the souvenier shop, he gave me a free calendar. Seemed a nice guy.

Nice feller, and always a 'never too much effort for the fans' kinda person. He was the point of contact for the mascots I believe. My lad was mascot twice at Farty Park.

Correct. He's a Blade

I've always thought he came across as a decent bloke. But a Blade?! Hmm not from those answers, and I do get he now works at the Sty. But I could never ever sit there and say now I'm a Wednesday fan because I work for them and when I was younger I watched United one week and Wednesday the other. I'd literally never sleep after, if I said that, but then again I've never watched Wednesday when we're not at home! Only time I've ever seen Wednesday when we've not been there is to sit in the away end and support the opposition! Once with Norwich, again with Leicester and finally with Chesterfield. Loved supporting Harry, Alan Cork, Mickey Adams and co v Leicester and they won!

Either way Daykin is well respected at the Lane and set up the Blades revival etc. Fair play to that.

Old ticket office manager Daniel was a massive piggy bastard... I didn't like him!
If he was is wendy, he was alright with us.
When they had problems with computers and you tried to buy online it sometimes gave you the wrong reference number.
He was always nice about it and sorted it out.

I wonder if Daykin was responsible for the Council backed , pigs in the park which has been a big success for them .

Not disputing he was good at his job, I worked in a different department and didn't like him, that ok?

I knew Andy very well and can confirm that he was a committed Blade. Sadly, while our commercial manager, he had a big fall out with KM and this led to his leaving us for the dark side. It must have been one hell of a bust up!
