I'll have to revise my English Pique moniker (from circa 2013) to something else.Harry's far better defensively. It appears the leadboots nonsense has died a death.

Maguire on the pigs link nonsense:
“When I was a young boy, my dad supported Sheffield Wednesday and my mum supported Sheffield United. When I was around 10 years-old, my dad used to take me to a couple of games but ever since I played for Sheffield United [I’ve supported them], I’ve played for them when I was 11 years-old.I was a ball boy week in, week out at Bramall Lane from when I was 14 until 16 or 17. Then, I broke in and made my debut. I definitely follow Sheffield United now. It’s a great club and I thank them a lot because they’ve done so much for my career".

It should also be noted that Maguire is often seen in John Street watching the night matches; when he doesn't have other commitments. He was at the Chessie 100 point game too.And at Hillsborough for the derby.

From the Times last year:
"Sheffield United were not surprised when Harry Maguire, one of their famous old boys, contacted them to buy tickets among the travelling fans heading to Hillsborough for the Steel City derby tomorrow. Like Kyle Walker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and many others, Maguire has never forgotten how the Blades gave him a chance.

Sheffield United are not the type to boast but there have been a few quiet smiles amid the sweat at their dream factory, the SteelPhalt Academy at Shirecliffe. They have just been ranked eighth in the list of clubs whose academy graduates have played most minutes in the Premier League, a source of great pride for their co-owner, Kevin McCabe.

“Maguire, Walker and Calvert-Lewin will always be part of the club, their roots come back to Sheffield United,” McCabe says, watching training on a brisk autumnal morning. With him is his young, impressive academy manager, Travis Binnion, who adds: “Harry ordered six tickets in the away end at Hillsborough. Kyle will be there if he can.”

It is particularly nice to see Harry there being a Blade :)
In a two club town it really is easy for both sides to claim you (if they want to)

Even my own dear mother and her entire family were grunters - but trust me here, that dont make me and my dear late father one of the buggers!!

Its funny that not many of them are claiming Vardy, despite him grunting about being a pig

Absolutely. The second he does though a gargantuan wave of pork will sweep across social media celebrating his love for the massive.
Yeah, it's pathetic but true!

They dumped him at 16 - really good influence on his career. Think the Wendy deserve huge credit for how they have nurtured JV into an England player and a top PL striker

They seem to have handled Hirst junior very well too :p

Leicester are just his current employers. Utd are his love. They will just have to get used to that fact.
The same type of love that made him accept the Hull transfer money?
Players from the 1960s and before would turn in their graves.

He went to Hull from us. We were a 3rd tier side in the grip of the footballing equivalent of the great depression. He gave us a few decent years but staying with us any longer would clearly have limited his progress. You need to take your red n white specs off here pal. He's playing, and playing brilliantly at a World Cup. Something tells me he made the right choice to leave us when he did.

Correct, which is why he turned down Spurs in favour of Leicester: to play and progress.Unfortunately, Steve Bruce held him back a year putting his son ahead of him in the pecking order at Hull.
Harry made 134 senior appearances for the Blades and was player of the year twice. He also played in an FA cup semi final run. He can't be held responsible for the moronic way in which we were being run during our tenure in league one.On a personal level, he'd outgrown us by some margin.

Yes, I suspect Owls fans' attitude to his brandishing that banner would have been somewhat different.

Namely, "You left us so eff off".

It's happening with Hirst Jnr right now.

"Break a leg", so to speak.
